I was in the club last year but never went on any trips. I would like to go if anyone has an extra seat, i'll help pay for gas as well. How long would we be gone that day?

ive got extra seats in the billy goat. So far just me and robert sharpe

BMFScout

How long would we be gone that day?

That is kind of a loaded question, might be home for dinner. On the other hand, vehicle troubles or whatnot, you might be home in time for Church!

uglyota
09-09-2005, 11:25 AM
ummm...church or school? :flipoff2:

alright whoever wants to camp, it's $10 for a site with water, more for electricity. I didn't ask how much more cuz electricity aint camping. But I could bring a blender then...hmmm might have to rethink that. ANyway that's in addition to the normal rate of $10/vehicle and $5/person for day use. Night wheeling is okay, so come one come all and let's have some fun!

I'd rather just make our own way out there saturday night so we don't have to coordinate schedules and whatnot, but Mario and I (and Tate?) will probably be leaving sometime after 5pm Saturday. You can show up as late as you want, they don't close the gate, and I don't think I've ever seen people camp there, so we'll probably be the only ones.
Give me a call if you want to ride up with us.

sldghmmr08
09-09-2005, 11:31 AM
I need to be back in cs by 8 bc I have a plus tutoring for organic chemistry so as long as we are back by then I can go.

AggieTJ2007
09-09-2005, 11:38 AM
I have an extra front seat that you can ride in to alto, and back but I won't be back to CS. So I would just say you can ride Co-pilot in the jeep.

BMFScout

ummm...church or school? :flipoff2:

"Alto on Sunday" should have told me you guys weren't going on Saturday. How about this, you might make it back in time for choir practice, or you might be back in time for school on Monday. It's hard to say for sure what time you will get home, I would use your own discretion.

texasxj
09-09-2005, 11:58 AM
I hope to be back by then also.

09-09-2005, 12:24 PM

it was off to the left where clayton and I lost you guys for a few minutes. I had to get strapped out of it. My right fender was keeping me up

hey what would you guys think about proposing a work weekend to the park? Like we all go camp and wheel for free one weekend in exchange for picking up a bunch of trash or doing trail maintenance if they need it?
Since people are already complaining about being broke and gas being high and whatnot we might consider another trip there this semester
btw camping fee was $10 total for all of us, and only had to pay for one day of wheelin.
Good deal

My favorite one is when i was between two trees (thought i was in the good spot) where either you go left or right, so eric decides to go between them where im standing. Kinda went like "hmm...hes getting closer...which way is he gonna turn.....hmm....uh oh"

Then there is the full throttle up the hill. That was fun. If i knew it would kill the joint i wouldn't have done it and waited for the hillclimb where creighton lost his spring to up and trash it. Square shaft won't work too twisted, gonna go to 1/4" wall.

Alto was awesome. That is the most fun I have ever had offroading. There were some iffy moments, like when I got stuck in the major water/mud hole. Unfortuneltly my truck did show some damage later. Pushed in fog light. I also had problems on the way back. The truck was overheating, and vibrating. I could not figure out the overheat problem so its in the shop. Can anyone give me a lift to Rudy's for Wednesday's meeting. I live at the Callaway House.

overheating- mud in the radiator fins

vibrating- mud in the wheels

pushed in fog light- mud

im pretty sure most any problem you're going to have is related to mud :flipoff2:

I did wash the truck completely. I probably lost a weight or something. The radiators were completely washed off, hoses were fine, coolant level was fine. No leaks or anything. Belt is still there and fan spins. No mud in the way at all. So its not only the mud. I'm thinking bad connection or something to computer.

CheapJeep
09-14-2005, 06:55 PM
Just as well full-sizes suck on tight trails, and wait til you get a big bodied rig in the rocks...say goodbye to rockerpanels and all. There's some vid's of guys with fullsizes including a burban' on offroad-tech.com, wheelin' in Moab on the slick rock and you can watch all the carnage. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing full sizes at all, I'm just saying that every rig has it's strengths and weaknesses, just as small rigs do too. :gigem:

Want my opinion? If i could do it all over again, I'm pretty sure I'd get an 85 extended cab yota or 4 runner if it was my only vehicle.

Why?

Still practical for college life... when moving back home you still can fit a bunch of ****.

Lightweight/small

Stock drivetrain holds up reasonably well to 35's with moderate wheeling.

Small enough to fit on trailers when someone has a spot.

Light enough that 1/2 tons can pull them well.

Good gas mileage.

Etc...

However, I still love the blazer, but I'm sure I would have love something else if it was my 1st.

jerryg79
09-15-2005, 08:30 AM
Want my opinion?

I'm pretty sure we weren't given a chance to say no. For that I feel cheated! :flipoff2:

If I had it to do all over again. I'd find a friend with a truck and wheel with him on occasion. Never get the bug to get my own truck, never dump money into a ****ter, and have lots more money to put down on a tow rig and trailer to pull around buddy's rig as well as 4 wheelers and boat with all the money I saved :gigem:
