View Full Version : October 7-9 Binder Round-Up-Gilmer, TX

I know that it is the 7-9th in Gilmer but the website doesn't say much. The cost of admittance is just the normal park fees best I remember and while there are some show and shine type events or whatnot, Fred and I go to wheel. It is a good time and Gilmer is a great place. It looks like that "Vintage Military Trucks" coincides with our event, that might be pretty b!tchin. It is open to anyone and I would encourage everyone to come out. We used to be involved with Gilmer, and haven't done much out there in awhile. Check out my pics at www.offroadrepublic.com or www.northtexasbinders.com or http://www.texasmotorizedtrails.com/ohvareas/barnwell/ for more information.

you guys should all get on the mailing list. thats where all the really useful info is exchanged, and theres a lot of it, everyday, several times a day. they havent exactly grasped the concept of a forum yet.

I doubt you'd win, there are some really nice scouts in the club. I haven't figured out why you would restore one, but they're out there.

I like to say that all the scout guys are a little "Eclectic" another word might be quirky. Brandon is a pretty good example. Andy wheels one, you know he is fawked in the head! :gigem:
just kidding Andy, don't squash me!

speaking of show and shines I saw a pimp half-cab that appeared to be fully restored driving down Bush yesterday. Cherry and older than any of the others I've seen. I thought someone had gotten confused restoring an EB at first

What do you mean we aren't hardcore enough for Clayton? I thought October trailfest was the weekend after the binder run?

I'm not sure an xr-100 with a 200lb man on it is capable of speeds that would necessitate a full-blown dirt bike helmet. I think maybe a baseball cap or a nice beanie would suffice :flipoff2:

Anyone else planning on going? I know you have nada to do Karl, bring out your dirt bike(s) it's a fun place to ride. Andy? You ain't go no electricity, ain't got no damage, let's geet it awn!! Davido, is the slum lord business that demanding? Brandon, get that pile of sheet running and....(oh yeah, nevermind) Hopefully the weather will be like it has been the past day or so, 70ish, no rain. Every year I try to get a group from the club to come out to show these Binder guys what a kickass college club we have and every year nada. There is no home game, no trailfest, you guys don't have sh!t to do, come on out it will be fun. If you just came out and sat in the same vicinity as Flem you would have a blast, screw the off-roading. COME ON DAMMIT!! Please, I beseech you, Gilmer is always fun. (Especially when there are Scout guys there that think they are God's gift to 4WD) ;) If you don't go it's your loss, because there is rumor the pater familias is going to be there, and you know how much fun The Father Brune is! :)

I'm afraid that $3.19/gal fuel is making it hard to getout of town...especially towing another vehicle. I know you guys love to hear my excuses, but I am trying to save 5% down payment, some out of pocket expenses like a fridge etc and the rest of my closing costs by Jan/Feb. Something to the tune of $10,000 so I can't afford a $500 trip. :(

It cost me $102 to fill up yesterday.

John Cox
St.John and Little St. John in Little St.John's longarmed TJ
Flem? (still up in the air, I think he said, "If Davido's not going screw it" ;) )
Fred, Dad, and I
Lots of Scout guys ;)
60 of my little blue 12 oz friends.
Did I miss anyone? (hint, hint)

We've got two rigs loaded on the sled ready to roll after work. One being a bike designed for a 10 year old, the other a scout.

I also renamed this event, it is no longer the "Binder Run" It is now, the "1st Annual TAMOR-North TRAIL Oktoberfest"
We'll have shirts next year, and it will also be the first weekend so it will coincide with my birthday. This way I will be able to say,"Sorry, I'm event organizer I can't be in your wedding." Instead of how it has been the past two years. I fuggin hate weddings...

Badass time. Highlights before I hit the sack:
Fred Walked Dewoody
Ryan tried to roll his brother's jeep on Dewoody 4-5 times, 3 of those with me and another redneck hanging off the front bumper
Helped recover a rolled scout, he endovered as well, off a 3 foot drop on a trail that went straight down
Fred walked up where the scout rolled.
John Cox actually wheeled his scout and it did badass, didn't even scratch the paint ;)
John Cox ate sh!t on the XR100, and I tried not to laugh or give him too much ****:)
Breakage:
Davido's d-shaft u-joint
Grayson's axleshaft
Fred got a little leak in a sidewall
St.John broke a u-joint on a front d-shaft
The handlebars on my XR100 got bent as well as John's pride
Jason might have picked up a scratch or two on the cheerookkee
I'm gonna load up pics as soon as my computer quits being a b!tch.
