Re: Week of Dec 19-23

I see no problem with doing this. We need to look ahead at critical dates such as draws on Regatta II. John Kilmartin is not very computer savy, and you and Shauna are going to have to be available to help him at such times.

Week of Dec. 19-23

Willie,

As long as it is Ok with you, I hope to work out of the Houston Office the week of Dec. 19th-23rd.

I have various functions to attend to that week:

My Mom graduates with her Masters from A&M
My girlfriend closes on and moves into her new house
Girlfriend's company Christmas party
Various other family functions.
Relatives in from around the country that I havent

I will still be working at the houston office and would take all required paperwork etc. with me pertaining to whatever I'm working on at that time. I dont think it would inconvenience anyone and there shouldnt be any problems.

I have missed out on alot of things with my family and friends since being up here for a year, and would like the opportunity to spend some time with them before and during the holidays.

That being so close to christmas I would expect it to be fairly slow anyway.

I know it seems like a ways away, but I'm trying to make plans in advance.

Thanks in Advance,

Jerry

those are the best time as long as you have a good sleeping bag. Wake up with frost on your sleeping bag. Get out of bed and you're already awake, cause its so damn cold, no coffee required that day. Plus you shove your jeans in the bag with you the night before and they are a toasty 98.6 when you put them on.

But now I'm old and have a gf so I sleep in a hotel with a bed and a heater. :gigem:

According to the weather web page, the average temperatures in Clayton in December are 31L-55H. At least we could expect that it wouldn't be freezing which is important. Perhaps with enough blankets and a fat girl I could keep warm in a tent? I guess I better unload the skinny one just in case I spot one!

TO DO:
find some 37" Krawlers.
mount on H2 wheels
Buy adapters for the wheels 6 lug to 8 lug...
cut and move tubing that already rubs to make room for tires with tread
buy some spare parts to prepare for tires with traction...

Would anyone have a spot on a trailer I could have? I'm willing pay my share and a little more if someone will pull my buggy up there.

Or is anyone interested in pulling me up there in exchange for a seat (like someone who doesn't have a rig). I'll supply the trailer and we can split the gas costs. The buggy is really easy to pull (I pull it with my tacoma, but this trip is a little far for that). I'm willing to let whoever pulls me drive the buggy some as well

We RSVP'd like a month ago. When Hayley called she got the guy (Dan the teenlover?) and he said he was "out back" and asked her to just call back and leave a message. She did but that sounded iffy so we have tried to call back several times and never got anything more than the machine. These guys are AWESOME.

How about the first person that gets through confirms that all of us have reservations. I think there is a list of everyone going on an earlier page.

I got through about an hour ago. I didn't realize everyone was having that many problems, or I would have asked just who had rooms and tried to get confirmations. All he took was my name and the date I wanted to stay, and said there would be a room when I got there. He never really told me what kind of room, so I hope I have a reservation when I get there (I think I'll call back next week to try to confirm my reservation). If you don't have a room, or can't get in contact, I would try calling tonight. This is one of the busiest travel days of the year, so I'm sure someone will have to be there, either to check people in or try to sell rooms

I din't say they would stay for long, but would grab a room on the way though. You've never done that before, drive until you fall asleep and run off the road, and then go find the nearest hotel you can, no matter how scary it may be? I mean they must have been kinda busy when I called, because danny answered, and then started yelling at another guy that he needed a pen, to which the other guy replied that he was busy with people checking in and for danny to find his own damned pen

Well, busy two weekends.

TO DO:
- mount hydraulic ram & pipe in - ram mounted. tabs mounted on tie rod. need 90s before I can pipe it in. Should be able to wrap it up tomorrow morning.
- weld front end - will do if I finalize #1
- groove swampers - anyone have a working groover?
- swap out hubs (for ones that work) - forgot about these. hmm.
- anti-wrap bars F & R - done
- clear up work schedule - done

- remove the broken off bolt in D-60 - POS!

I was trying to tighten up my bolts on the D-60 and broke one off in the housing today. I tried the Spears method of removal, but I couldn't get it all the way out (got it out some but ran out of nuts). Brandon's going to help in the morning. Hopefully that will run smoothly. I'm going to add some new bolts in there and that will be done.

I mounted my tailgates on the slightly tweaked body. I don't think the center console is going to make it for this trip, but that's OK.

It's just about go time!

I think all you have for welding is a mig yes? Turn it up all the way to weld that nut on. Use the biggest size nut you can and weld the **** out of it. Then let it cool all the way before trying to loose it. Let it sit for a few minutes after welding then you can cool it with water if you want.

I have groover.

TO DO:
- mount hydraulic ram & pipe in - done
- weld front end - once I verify #1 is going to work.
- groove swampers - anyone have a working groover?
- swap out hubs (for ones that work) - I think these may be a lost cause for this trip.
- anti-wrap bars F & R - done
- clear up work schedule - done
- remove the broken off bolt in D-60 - done
- replace king pins (may be able to wait until after the trip)
- replace u-joints in D-60 - yeah.

Yeah, I got bigger nuts today. :) Brandon came by and cleaned it up and made short work of it. Some of it was that it was dirty, some of it was that I haven't yet mastered the technique. But regardless, it's out. Now on to new problems. My kingpins are worn badly and my u-joints are all but shot in my front end. WTF?!?!? Anyway, back to the old drawing board on the axle.

I'm about to jet out of the office and go try the steering setup.

my square driveshaft didn't break... It was the pinion yoke, ujoint, and the driveshaft yoke. I think I welded too much and affected the strength of the driveshaft yoke, which took out the rest of it.

Also bent the tie rod on the oil pan due to excessive bouncing from the springs.

At any rate, I reassured myself that i will never wheel the blazer again and it gave me new inspiration for the imaginary buggy.

Now it's time to cleanup and disassemble.

So Cooper, did the splines strip and then yall welded it as a repair then it broke, or did yall weld it as an upgrade and then it broke?

I'm alive and still pretty damn sick. At work now but about to take off because I am so wiped out. Tonsilitis and now I think I am getting the flu...ouch

8Runner really is not that messed up - I was freaked out while it was sliding down the hill making godawful crunching noises, but it was already busted up pretty good on that side. Rear window is smashed and I need to straighted out the spare tire. Scott's winning pick of a winch point messed up my door frame pretty good too :flipoff2: I still can't believe I sheared those knuckle bolts again! Oh, and Eric, the tire is fine, but I need to rebuild the damn knuckle again. I don't know what my long term plans are yet, been so under the weather I haven't had time to consult with my insurance agent.... :gigem:

BTW, I have like 700mb of pics & vids. I'll post them as soon as I can free up a hand from my chloraseptic bottle.

the splines stripped so we tightened the **** out of the nut and welded it together... worked fine for awhile then it snapped later on... probably from the heat.

I think they must have said, "Hey, the Klogger is running!" and that was your look of amazement, but Flem was thinking, "you can't fool me suckers, that thing sucks!"

Finally got my pics up - the last one is still uploading. It's like 200+ Mb, and not really worth watching at that. (it's when we flipped the truck back over after the roll in the dark).

http://www.tamor.org/members-rigs/album05

I uploaded the rest of my pics too, so have a look around at all the old stuff.

Edit: Does anyone know the max filesize? I think 200 mb is a little over :)

I'd imagine it has something to do with the hydraulic cylinders attached to the axles.

Well, it looks like some wire or cable is holding that side of the axle up.

is it me, or is Feller going to lose and arm one day while wheeling? Keep you hands and arm inside the ride at all times ....

CRaSHnBuRN

actually, the pics where my arm is simply hanging out I'm not moving, just waiting for my turn. I do sometimes grab the cage though, which isn't good

I know it's an odd concept, but how about keeping your hands on the steering wheel?

He really needs to lock out his buggy leaves and re-mount his rear shocks. That thing is super unstable and always want to lift a tire
