View Full Version : removing 4wd chevy rotor

I never worked on IFS GM stuff. Looking at it I'm guessing you just undo the four bolts on the back of the spindle to undo the unit bearing along w/ the big fawker (1 3/8") nut on the shaft on the outside of the hub and it comes off right? then I gotta drive the lugs out? what a PITA!

yea, take off the four bolts that hold the bearing carrier to the knuckle. I will be stuck to the knuckle so be get out a chisel and some punches to get it loose. you will need to press the studs out to get the rotor (if you need to turn it or replace the bearing).

What year? I put new rotors on our 99 obs 4wd tahoe and i just unbolted the caliper, and the rotor slides off.

1996 2500 4wd...yea! I get to press out 16 studs!

did mine at the first of the summer. ended up droping the rotor on my finger nail while pressing out the studs. dang thing is just now growing back.

yup, the 1500 stuff has pancake rotors. quick and easy.
