a know a guy that can find you a junkyard one, but it will probably be around $500+

Creighton if you can find jyard 60s for $500 you should buy as many as you can and sell them for 50% profit on pirate. You'd turn them over in hours. John from what I've seen (Doug will have more insight) $600 or so is a killer deal on a complete kingpin 60. You can find them all day long for $1200. Anywhere in between would probably constitute a "decent" deal.

don't quote me on this but i think anything older than 78 is an 8 lug 10 bolt. so you want between 78 and 92

Graystroke
01-30-2006, 08:05 PM
I think that's 3/4, right?

Yes. Also, earlier models had necked down inner shafts.

1 Tons before 78 had an 8 lug 10 bolt. I'm not sure what you were asking...

Doug Krebs

Unless you're set on chevy, you can get a dodge also. Thats what I put in the front of the blazer. They are 2 inches narrower and the spring pads are 1/2" more spread apart than a chevy. Most dodges have the selectro lock out, but later models like the one I have are internal lockouts.

Fredo
01-31-2006, 01:59 AM
I think some of the mid 70's dodges with 203's had drive flanges up front...can't really remember though.

i passed on a chevy 1 ton dually saturday that had a 454, 4 speed, 205, front 60 and not for sure on rear end for $650 at a auction. it was driveable to. they also had a 83 toy 4x4 that didn't run to good and it went for $800.

ones i can't tell you about. junk mainly, farm stuff

yeah, I've been to a couple of those car and farm auctions. I've seen several 2.5 ton rockwell trucks go for under 500 bucks a piece, a FJ40 for $700, and several EBs in various states from $300-900. The funniest was a K30 single cab 4x4. It was decent looking, but the afternoon before the auction I stopped by and crawled underneath it only to find someone had yanked the D60 and swapped in a 10 bolt. The u bolts were only hand tight, the driveshaft was tied up with bailing wire, and the shocks were only hanging there. The next day I saw 2 guys get into a bidding war over it simply because they saw the one ton tag on the side and thought it had a 60. Neither one had the slightest clue what it actually was

**** that. CUCV axles might be worth that much if you are desperate, but not non-built civi axles.

somebody WILL pay that much, maybe not here, but somebody will.

Sharpe
02-09-2006, 06:16 PM
If hes willing to ship...maybe. Otherwise no. I went through the same thing. I had a COMPLETE set of 1 tons in a running truck that I was trying to get $1100 for but no one would bite.

uglyota
02-09-2006, 06:27 PM
why wouldn't you be willing to ship a big money item like that? I'd drive to Austin for $100

Sharpe
02-09-2006, 06:28 PM
Driving to deliver is one thing but shipping across the country is another. And in case you havent bought anything from me before, yes I do deliver high dollar parts.

uglyota
02-09-2006, 06:31 PM
There's a Forward Air in Austin

Sharpe
02-09-2006, 06:33 PM
And? Palleting it and all that crap is still a huge PITA not to mention driving all the way there to drop it off.

uglyota
02-09-2006, 06:35 PM
the guys there are cool...they'll forklift it out of the back of your truck and stick it on a pallet for you if you need it. I thought you'd have shipped with them before.

JeepPhisherman
02-09-2006, 06:37 PM
its not comming from austin

uglyota
02-09-2006, 06:39 PM
I realize that. The point was driving an hour or so (to the nearest Fwd Air location) in order to market nationwide

you say that, but I sat on the HP D60 for how long? Like three months before I sold it for $900. I tried selling it on pirate, and while I had a lot of interest, no one would come up with the money. Yes, someone may buy it, but how long are you willing to wait for someone crazy or dumb enough to pay that much?

02-09-2006, 07:31 PM
yeah and the gears in the 60 and 14 arent even matching gears, that guy is from backhome and very nuts, he wants mogs or portals, funny thing is his truck hasnt ran in like three years.

davido

Took me 10 days to get 900, and that was for a junkyard axle in TX. The buyer drove from Ft worth to CS to get it
