i thought there was talk of some trip to las cruces or hot springs or something?

eight
02-06-2006, 03:10 PM
I think I'm the only one whose talked of hot springs or cruces.

Spring break was just an option we thought of for TCC. No need for anybody to get their panties in a wad yet.

isnt it closed during the week

CRaSHnBuRN
02-06-2006, 05:03 PM
yeah, you're right about that. So how bad of drive is new mexico? Me and my fiancee have the first weekend off, and part of the first week as well, so I want to go somewhere, even if its just a trip to trees, mason, or that new place. A trip to cruces would be fun, but long and expensive. Hell, I would even be up for another trip to clayton

eight
02-06-2006, 05:24 PM
If I remember right, cruces is between 12 and 22 hours away.

Shaggy

Hot springs is about 480 miles away, mostly interstate. So about 7.5 hours with one stop for food and fuel.

We could drive up there on friday, wheel all day saturday and sunday. Then make the 4 hour drive to clayton monday for another 2-3 days of wheeling before heading back.

But hot springs has no events planned during our spring break.

The wheelin ranch in nocona is 260 miles from here and then 200 miles from there to clayton. They don't have dates set that far but from reading their forum it seems like they're opened every weekend there's even just a little interest. Seems tamor^ needs to check this place out for us with it being closer to them than gilmer.

but after you factor in food, fuel, oxygen used, heartbeats per minute, rotational mass of your lug nuts, air speed of an african swallow, breakdown of engine oil viscosity per mile dependent on revolutions per minute, amount of lumens produced by headlights to calculate effects on fuel mileage, wear and tear on wheel bearings according to weight displacement per wheel, load vs temperature and it's effect on tire wear...you'll pretty much decide it's too expensive to go.

I emailed Tim at the wheelin ranch about how to get the park opened and his message was pretty much, say you want it opened and it will be.

I really like the idea of going to the Wheeling Ranch

CRaSHnBuRN
02-07-2006, 03:20 PM
I like the idea of hitting the wheeling ranch. From what I've seen it looks like fun, and it'll be a first for everyone in the club. One question though? Would the wheeling ranch only be open for the weekend, or would they possibly extend the dates a little into the beginning of the week?

The wheeling ranch followed by clayton also sounds like a decent idea. Wheel nocona over the weekend, then head on to clayton sunday night and wheel for a day or so. I know I can get off enough days to cover the nocona thing, but I'll have to see if I can push for enough to do clayton.

Hot springs sounds okay, but seems like a long tow for just 2 days of wheeling.

Where is this Wheeling Ranch?

AggieTJ2007
02-07-2006, 06:13 PM
box douched, The Wheelin Ranch (www.wheelinranch.com) is about hour to hour half north of dallas, check out their website, looks like a neat plane.

CRaSHnBuRN
02-07-2006, 10:51 PM
yeah, I think its been called a few different names over the years. I've always called it nocona, and before it was the wheeling ranch I think it was owned by AGR

CRaSHnBuRN
02-12-2006, 02:29 PM
So if we went to the wheeling ranch the first weekend of spring break, who all would be interested in going? I know me, creighton and kopecki have shown interest, but who else would want to go? As for continueing on to clayton, who would want to do that? I think it would be fun, but it may be to much in to little time for me personally, so I may opt out of that.

CRaSHnBuRN
02-12-2006, 02:34 PM
Here is another idea that I had. What if we talked to the people running the wheeling ranch and see if they would let us stay past sunday? So instead of going on to clayton, we would just stay and wheel at the ranch for a day or so more?

Chadnutz
02-12-2006, 04:25 PM

****, at the rate we're going with firing that fat girl and finishing your training, you still may not be officially working here and therefore capable of going. Honestly, I think we should sit down with john and randy and discuss what should be done on weekends like this. I've had to cover alot of other peoples shifts, so I don't see why someone else (like john) couldn't handle a couple of days worth of night audits every once in a while. That way we could both go on a spring break trip, or maybe even TCC

Well if anyone does want to go on to clayton, I won't be able to make it. So it looks like just the weekend in Nocona for me. BTW, does any one know if they allow wheeling friday afternoon/evening? If so I may leave early friday morning in an attempt to get a little extra wheeling in.

Okay, I'll send them something tonight. So right now we want to do this the first weekend of spring break, right? So basically we would be coming in friday afternoon/night, and staying to sunday afternoon? And we're looking at 5 to 10 rigs right now?

02-21-2006, 01:41 AM
Well, I contacted Tim and he said it would be fine for us to come up that weekend. I told him we have 5 confirmed rigs, with some more possibly commiting before then.

Now here is another question I wanted to ask. Where does everyone plan on staying? I know creighton mentioned staying at the hotel since its a little over a mile from the ranch and there is a private road between the two. Since my fiancee is coming along, I think if the price is right I would rather stay at the hotel versus camping as well.

i realize that... dont get me started on deep sea fishing... i grew up in port aransas and my dad was a deep sea guide for like 15 years before he started bay fishing (and he pretty much ran the market on both)... so i grew up on a off-shore boat.

but bay fishing is close, easily accessible, still lots of fun and if you know how to find the fish still catch plenty of fish, and way CHEAPER

these were ours until we sold them to reese... makes just as much doing bay guides and it doesnt kill you... fishing 300 days a year wears on you after awhile

I'm out, I think creighton is out, kopecki is going to the coast, my guess is Robbie will be going with Cooper, and 95discovery never did confirm if he was going, but it sounds like he isn't, so do we cancel the trip entirely? I give a **** because I'm the one who is in contact with the guy who runs the ranch, and he thinks we are bringing a group up there. So if no one wants to go I think we should have the courtesy to contact him and say the trip was canceled so we don't **** up like we did with 47. Well hell. I've got my hydro-assist steering crap. I only need one weekend to fix my problems and hook up the sending units for my gauges (on the Ford) and we don't even have a Spring Break trip.

You know what pisses me off? Back in the old army days this club actually took bad ass spring break trips... Moab, Cruces, Arizona, etc. My dumb ass took my time on my truck during these old army days and now that it can finally wheel no one takes spring break trips anymore.

Is it the fuel costs? TCC? Losing interest? It seems like the only trips this club takes together are TCC and 2 Clayton trips. 3 trips a year? :(

If you want to go so bad, the rule has been established that you say you are going for sure and say when and where you are leaving from. Step up and coordinate a trip since it pisses you off so much. Out of thsoe three trips a year hos many have you been on? I've been to most (big and small) in the last year and a half and I've only seen you at one.

Chadnutz
02-22-2006, 03:54 PM
I always have good excuses though. Yes the reason has been money or my truck's not ready. I guess those are the only reasons there are, eh?

Now that I'm established (in the house, trucks running, etc) I am ready to wheel and I expect this entire club to cater to my desires. :flipoff2:
