It is on 47. Pics are from this weekend. He bought the truck in Ohio a couple of weeks ago. It is an 1989 model I believe and only has like 65,000 orig miles. Was some rich bastards car out on the farm. All the $afarigard **** came on it. He got a pretty good deal on it.

so whats a good price for one of these?

Graystroke

depends on the year and location and who owns it. if it is a rover fag expect to pay too much. I would look at the houston and San Antonio classifieds for one. seems to be more in these areas. There have been dealers there since they came back over in 1987. In DFW there was never a good dealer structure until more recently. In Austin they are more hip so they go for more on the local lots. 87, 88 models have a 3.5l v8 and a lockable t-case, 89-95 have a 3.9l v8 and a BW t-case w/ a viscous coupling. all have a 3.32 low range gear. the 87-88 are gear driven and the BW cases have a chain. all LWB (long wheel base) have 4.2l v8's and adj. air suspension. 94 and 95 SWB have air suspension as well. ABS came out in late early 90 although the hunter model had it deleated (as well as other lower cost models). the hunter also had no sway bars and cloth interior. sway bars were standard by 1991 and they went to 24 spline axles in 1994. 1995 RR's are the best IMO b/c the A/C system is better, better brakes/axles, serpentine belt system, better looking dash w/ air bags (SRS), and the hardest to find. in 1995 they only made 250 SWB, it is also RR's 25th aniversary, the made quite a few LWB (what I would get-tons of room in the back seat) It was the classic's last horah and the same year the P38A (4.0 GEMS) RR came out-POS
You can tell a lot about the truck from Dealer history. Some are the biggest POS's and others like my Dad's seem to keep on going. They ae really easy to work on and everything (even the roof) is bolted together. I bet you could strip one to the shell in a day. The engine is simple and w/ a few upgrades can be super reliable.

Am I the only one that caught this?

so for instance, this one i posted a while back:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Land-Rover-Range-Rover-ONE-OF-A-KIND-RANGE-ROVER-CLASSIC_W0QQitemZ4619563203QQcategoryZ6295QQrdZ1QQ cmdZViewItem

what should it be worth. are they really as anemic as people say. i dont guess one would make a tow rig would it?

agjohn02
03-13-2006, 01:01 AM
and what about gas mileage?

Graystroke
03-13-2006, 01:08 AM
I would get a LWB-that narrows your search to 1993-1995, They all had a 4.2L rated at 200hp and 251 ft/lbs torque. They are fairly quick and easily cruise @ 90mph.ask jimmy when we raced a ricer coming back fom Ft. Worth. I know we doing over a 100mph...this was in 4wd of course. it all depends on condition. some are abused and others you will find have been garaged, have every service marked off in the book and are mint. I would say a good LWB in good condition will go for 6-8k

go to www.rangerovers.net for all the info and specs...they even have a buying section and break it down by year

I know I got dusted in Uptown this weekend by a 4.6 RR HSE in the suburban. In the defense of the Suburban there were nine people in it, I was still pissed.

yeah but your motor is almost 2x the size of the RR's. were the people fat?

Graystroke

i'd get the white one...you'll thank me in the summer.

Graystroke

the LWB's tow fairly well. We pulled our 22 offshore CC (5000lb+) with the 93 LWB w/ no problems. It would pull fine at 65-70mph slowed on the hills a little, but was stable and has plenty of brake (4 wheel disc). They also have air springs so it is self-leveling and you can hook a trailer up w/ my little trick w/o having to crank on the jack.

i've also been looking, BTW Garner is selling his white 95.
