Remove flywheel.
Have flywheel turned.
Get new clutch and pressure plate.

how soon do you need it done? I can probably do it by the end of the week if I can use your driveway. Find out what the dealer wants for labor and cut it in half. You provide parts.

If your going into the trouble of dropping the trans, replace the t/o bearing while your there.

i may do this.... i would need it done soon though... bryan drivetrain quoted me about $280 in labor, $650 total. what all parts do i need?

i remember about something needing to be machined? I don't have any lifts or anything, though i do have an air compressor... how many of these have you done?

if's it's too much trouble, i'll just go with bryan drivetrain... they can get it out same day, that way i'll have a vehicle.... just let me know...

And the sad thing is, I know people who have bolted everything up without buying a 50 cent bearing

what do i need?

clutch kit?

I'm not sure whats in a jeep one. I know mine came with everything.

Clutch
Pressure plate
throwout bearing
pilot bearing/bushing

Other than that you probably need to get your flywheel machine/ground

alright you buttmonkeys I told Brandon that $280 is a good price and I wouldn't beat that, but for the record the first clutch I did was on my old 4wd civic and it was a PITA because the tcase wraps around the flywheel and you're supposed to pull the motor to do the clutch, but I didn't. Turned out fine and I replaced all parts and turned the flywheel on that one. Second clutch I did was on a Saturn and it was a PITA cuz it was another crappy front wheel drive car, but replaced all the parts and turned the flywheel and the owner was happy with that job too. I replace the clutch in the dam Charlie truck at least once and encountered every problem known to man on one of those jobs, but once figured out the clutch did not turn out to be one of those persistent problems leading to bastardization. And finally, I have replaced ugly truck clutch disk at least 3x using "previously loved" parts, but i did replace the T/O bearing once and the pilot bearing once, have never surfaced the flywheel, and I have one more disk/pressure plate lined up (after next trip, it's chattering now) before I upgrade to a later oem flywheel/clutch assy (also used), and when that one wears out I'll probably break down and purchase a new disk/pressure plate. I'm down to about 4 hours with hand tools doing a clutch job on the Ugly truck now. I carry the spare on trips :D
So yes I do know how to do a clutch job :flipoff2:

***, hey everybody, eric doesnt know what four on the floor means!

edit: just kidding nowadays i consider it to mean four pedals on the floor, but in the old days it was a four speed on the floor rather than the column.

***, hey everybody, eric doesnt know what four on the floor means!
if it doesn't mean four forward gears on a floor shifting manual transmission, as opposed to "three on the tree" having 3 forward gears on a column shifting manual transmission, then please explain

edit: looks like nowadays you're dumb as ever :flipoff2:
