Well,
Cody, Troy and I decided to make a last minute run to Clayton so that Troy can work out the bugs and get some seat time in his new buggy.

Carnage:
I broke my ram mount off my knuckle - was able to limp back to town and get it welded back on.
I cut THREE (3) of my tires!!!
Cody broke his drag link
Cody bent a leaf spring
Cody broke his rear driveshaft
Troy bent his sway bar arms and rods.

On the trip back home, the tranny went out in my Dodge (could only use 4th gear) while pulling my goosenect with the Patrol and Cody's Jeep on it. We were able to make it from I45 to Codys house (four turns and three stop signs) in fourth gear... while pulling... I had to slam it into 4 low-4th gear to pull up into Codys house... It's still there

 Just like colorado, Cody, maybe we shouldn't haul with scott? Seems that every time we do something goes wrong.... :gigem:

I lost my tranny in Z71 coming back from Colorado pulling a trailer. Happend in Fort Stockton, we made it back to the house in SA with the same, 4th gear...

There are a few other problems to iron out but nothing too major.

I do, but they were just a little too big after resizing and I didn't feel like resizing again. I will post them all on the web instead...

jeep slide off rock and landed on drag link only. something had to give. glad it was that and not the steering box. it bent the 1" TRE and broke right after the threads on the TRE stoped. so much for 4140 tubing. it was interesting driving with just the ram assit.

i just drilled and tapped the tubing. i probably drilled more than it needed for the TRE. slims off-road fixed me up. he let me do everything myself.

There were all kinds of snakes out there - I had to keep my eye out since I was walking after running out of tires...
I saw a few slither under rocks before I could get pictures. This was my first time having a rattler "rattle" for me - that was a little strange too.

Slim's shop is badass. When my vaccuum pump started puking oil on the first day, he gave me a replacement piece for free and even a few throttle return springs.

Nice pictures, looked like a blast. Not too big on the snakes....you definitely must have had to watch your step with that many. John Brown and I were in ecology today and the prof brought out one of his snakes (bull nose?) and passed it around the classroom....after 100 or so people messed with it I'm sure it was pissed.

nice pics, looks like fun!
do you have certs on those tires? take a pic of the discount guys faces when you pull up with that on the trailer...

redcagepatrol

You need the type of tires I run. No questions asked money back guarantee on any problem.

You got an idea why you're cutting so many tires lately? Think they're getting pinched between the wheel and a rock?

yep, think so. I need to be more carefull, sand down the sharp edges of the rims, and air up a little

Shaggy

back in the day when i actually wheeled i always lost tires... mine was always because i didnt run enough air in a heavy rig... i think you just need to clean up the edges of your rims

Hmm. I don't even carry a spare. :( But then again, I don't run POS SSRs. Buy some real swampers this time. :flipoff2:

those krawlers are so dang expensive - I can buy two SSR's for the price of one Krawler... Although, at my recent rate of going thru tires, it wouldn't have mattered

Can you run tubes by any chance? Get Mattso to hook you up with a couple of gallons of tire slime.

did any one cycle the rear suspension on troys rig? seems like someone would have seen the sway bar links over centering and made longer links, hope it didn't tear anything else up. rig looks sweet though

I knew the links were to short but I had not got around to changing them.
