I am selling my F150

It is a 2000 extended cab with 4 doors. Just hit 100k on the odometer last tuesday. Has 85% tread on BFG KO tires. Have run mobile one synthetic since 57K miles when I got it. Has been a great truck. I am selling out and getting a Escape Hybrid.

$7500

Doug Krebs
04-25-2006, 07:01 PM
just curious, how much does an escape hybrid cost?

Shaggy
04-25-2006, 07:17 PM
with what i want about 33k... but there are tax incentives of over 2k a year plus that is MSRP

and that is loaded with 4wd and all the goodies

36mpg in town and 31 highway

they also offer 0% financing for 36 months or 1.9% for 48 months... not a bad deal

jerryg79
04-25-2006, 07:35 PM

just an idea tate i've got some f150 rims in the back yard that would fit your truck if you'd wanna sell the rims seperate. they have tires that arent half bad.

Just thought of this, My sister has one of those. When she first got it, I loved it, for a mommy-mobile. Good acceleration, nice braking, go-kart like steering, decent interior and stereo... Now with 80,000 miles or so on it I think it is a piece. The interior door panels fell apart, the suspension has some kickass rattles that I have determined to be from elongation of mounting points in the suspension like my other favorite vehicle, the TJ is known to do. The passenger door handle is busted and only works on the inside. I'm sure there are more things, this is just what I have noticed when I drive it. I can only imagine how kickass the car is once you add 4wd and the hybrid ****. I'm just saying for 33K you could get something cool, save the mommy-mobile for when your married to a mommy, or is there something you're not telling us?! The other thing that is funny about those is that when you add 4wd, you are actually adding the rear axle.

bronco wont be done anytime soon... and i really cant afford 13mpg besides my f150 could never really pull the bronco anywhere... the escape would cost me about $500 a month, it would save me roughly $200 a month on fuel and another $200 a month on tax deductions for driving a hybrid, so basically I get a new 4x4 suv for about $100 a month and have it paid off in 4 years

By a throw-away-car...

I.e. Cavalier, escort, etc... I bet you can find a decent one for under $2000.

Blair's Cavalier gets 32 MPG at 75.

I don't think you are doing the tax deductions right. Usually, when something is a tax deduction it doesn't take that amount of your taxes.

For example: you make 20,000... the tax deduction on the hybrid is $2400. So you take 20,000 - 2400 and you get 17,600. So instead of paying taxes on 20,000 you only pay it on 17,600. I guarantee this is not going to come out to $2400 in savings.

Shaggy
04-26-2006, 05:31 PM
damnit... i thought of the trow-away car... but i would be selling by truck and i am scared i would throw the difference in value in the bronco like i always do when i have cash... i think the escapes are pretty nice... i dont know what i am gonna do for sure yet... but i am selling my truck none the less

precisely, you would only see about 200 of that, but you also can subtract out the tax on the truck which would be about 1800 or another 200ish. You have to have so many deductions, before they start counting, that was my problem anyway.

if you're gonna go throw away, go japanese.

I think you have to have 10,000 for the first exeption, at least we did.

How much more are import throw aways than domestic? I think domestic throw-aways are starting to catch up in longevity. I will get back to you on this test in about 100,000 miles when blairs car hits 204,000.

Tate, if you're scared about spending the money set up an IRA. If you already have one set up some other account...

Remember Al's first lesson, don't leave more than you need sitting in a checking account or savings account. Open up an account with fidelity, vanguard, or the like and put your money in there.

It's been argued since the beginning of time that the only way to really save money on fuel by buying a new vehicle is to buy the cheapest one you can find and pray that it is reliable.
