weather guard are good boxes, the only problem that i have seen with them is the shocks will wear out after use, but they are good and strong

Thats what I have in the crewcab. It is going on 10 years old now and we bought it brand new. I think it is a prety damn high quality box. It is deffinately showing its age, but I am prety hard on most of my **** so I'd say its held up great. The shocks to wear out but that just means you have to burn an extra calorie to lift the lid yourself. Wha... The buttons to open the top are a ***** to push in, in fact I cannot open the box at all when I am in the bed of the truck because I cant get enough leverage to push the button all the way down. I have an aluminum one and the annodizing started to peel away and the metal corode about 2 or 3 years ago, but I'm from the coast so you might not have that problem.

not to be a dick, but annodizing doesn't peel. It was probably a clear coat.

yea, the website says its clear coated. i think it'll last me awhile, i usually take good care of my stuff. those small gas shocks always wear out sometime, no matter what they are on.

wetherguard seems to have a better latch setup to me. they might be a litle thicker aluminum, but the latches are worth it. weatherguard, rki, and knapp (parent co. to weatherguard i think) are the way to go.

roeson and koenig or how ever you spell it are what i like. my dad has had then on his trucks for years, and the latest one, is ten or so years old, and still works fine, but as stated it isnt as shiny any more.

rki = rawson koenig. As an added bonus for most of us, as far as I can tell, it is a Texan company.

I think my Weathergard is the bomb. It usually has way more in it that most toolboxes will ever see and the bottom doesn't sag at all. The lock and latch feel really good and the shocks on my lid still work great. I really like the fact that there is a full guard in the corners where the shocks are so they're protected from stuff sliding around.

If it doesn't say R&K, leave it be. There is no better box on the market.

No matter what box you put in though, only put one bolt per side, they way they build the boxes now a days, the box won't flex with the bed, and will break the welds or fiberglass seams on the bed. R&K sent us a big bulletin about it a few years ago when I was installing utility bodies. One right in the center on each side is enough. Just my 50 dinars worth.

Weatherguards don't bolt to the bed.

Mine does. It has 2 holes and one slot per side.

The quality on the weatherguards and rks seems to be about the same. But the weatherguards are built a little fancier and have nicer latches. You have to pay quite a bit more for it though. If I was to be buying a toolbox it would be a rk, but I'm hoping to find a key for a good old toolbox I have because the one on dodge is getting pretty bad. Seems all the old toolbox keys were lost, and I have no idea where the 100 or so keys in our keybox go.
