View Full Version : "Project" Scout or two or three...

Is anyone interested in a beater scout? We are more than likely losing rights to our storage land and need to "Flem out" the 3 "extra" Scouts we have. We will probably end up hacking two of them and selling the other. If anyone is interested let me know and we can start working out details on them. They are all basically parts trucks, none of them run, rusty of course. One of them St.John used angle iron to weld a rear axle under the front to roll it around. This is also the one that he started to do some "sick" metal work on in the quarters. I think we have titles for 2 or maybe all 3.

Interested in one with decent sheetmetal and a pair of D44s (if they didn't all come with D44s). Don't care about the rest.

I have a buddy who'd like the axles and I can see a time in the perhaps not so distant future that I'll need to re-skin mine.

I will take inventory/pics tomorrow and see what I actually have. I won't be getting rid of any full fronts, if anything it'd be a housing minus shafts. The rears I could probably let go however.

i could use a scout II frame if you have one laying around.

a corrado on a scout frame would be even cooler than a mustang on a bronco frame!

Graystroke
06-26-2006, 08:40 PM
yeah, if you have one laying around just throw it in the trunk of the civic and bring to me and I might consider giving you $20 for all your trouble....if I'm around.

yeah, I could defnitely have a frame left over out of all of this. I don't think it would fit in the back of a civic though.

i'm sure there are other ways to get it here. no hurry of course

no inner fenders move back firewall or whats left of it very little body left might use lots of expanded metal

agjohn02
07-06-2006, 05:05 PM
that should do it. the only part of that that is any work is moving the firewall. doesnt have to be fancy, but expanded metal might make it a little warm in the drivers seat.

should be a bad dood!

Fredo
07-06-2006, 05:40 PM
Well, the whole Idea of moving the firewall is fine and dandy, but there isn't a whole lot of leg room in one and if you move the firewall back, it makes even less, and when you get to looking at the tranny tunnel, it's not going to be able to be moved back much without causing issues with shifters or knee room.

If you really want to put a big block in something, try a Scout II. That would be really cool, oh wait... :flipoff2:

BTW, when's the Binder run in Gilmer this year? I'd like to make that one.

the heat just got turned up, the city said we were in violation with 5 of the 15 cars in the driveway. I want to call them and ask which 5 of the 15 they have a problem with. Time to wheel and deal!!! The problem is the ones we need to get gone nobody would want. Another scout goes under the knife/sawzall! :gigem:

Andre is the first up.
Body rusty as ****, doors replaced with gas pipe. Most of an engine there, various parts stolen. The 727 auto is in it, but would need a rebuild. Dana 20 missing, rear 44 good, front 44 just the housing. The frame is in decent shape. Only driven on Sundays. Good clear title. This one is getting the chop and haul this week so speak up if you are sick enough to haul it off. The price is right, just haul it off, nada, zip, freebie. It is a '79 if that matters for some reason. The trick is it MUST be gone by next weekend. 7-15/16

So, Andre is the one that puked its 727 at Padre Island? Or is it the one that you added a lunch box loker to so you could kick Thumpers ass at BMVRA? I get Andre and Lurch confused all the time.

How bad is the rust? Are the skins salvageable?

You say the front D44 is housing only, as in no knuckles/spindles/brakes etc.?

Fredo
07-10-2006, 11:25 AM
no, it's got the outers on it, just no shafts, diff, or ring and pinion.

BMFScout
07-10-2006, 11:35 AM
It's pretty damn rusty. I don't think it'd be worth your time. I've got another one I'll post pics of tonight, it's not as rusty and the axles are complete. I think it's just what you're looking for! ;)

So if anyone in CS wants anything from the Brune compound, it looks like I will be heading up the big D with Ryan on saturday and can maybe bring something back if you make it worth my trouble (alcohol is my standard payment of choice).

Jimmy's got a power steering box for me if you don't mind bringing it back to CS. I'll be up there in the next few weeks to get the FJ and can get it from you then. What kind of beer do you like?

Yes, like where the headlights mount up. The metal piece and the plastic insert.
Left fender, as in driver's side?

Fredo
07-14-2006, 01:21 AM
Yeah, the driver's side fender is pretty rusty, but the driver's fender on the other scout jimmy listed is in pretty good shape. We can get something going.

Cajun
07-14-2006, 01:33 AM
Cool. I'd love an extra grille, hood, and pair 'o front fenders. In fact, I'll take all the sheetmetal you're willing to part with.

Well, maybe not all. ;)

The only thing danny's scout needs that it doesnt have is a good carb and the one in jimbo's pics is in much worse shape than the one he has.

sasquatch
07-14-2006, 08:43 AM
the carb looks alright on closer inspection. he needs to run a new fuel line to a gas can so we can actually test it's ability to shoot gas, instead of using starting fluid only. we had it trying to catch while turning over last night, which is closest its been to starting.

BMFScout

I guess I wasn't very clear on that, yes that is our 800. Owned it for 3 weeks or so. We were calling it Clifford, but I think "The Straw" is more appropriate. I think it's the reason the city got it's panties in a wad over all our vehicles.
