TOYOTA...er something like that. I picked this up this past weekend. didn't give much for it. The paint scheme is less than desirable...probably pretty cool in 1987...or maybe not. I think I'll paint it all red. Needs some new shoes. I took off the fugly center caps that were on it and the conversion van-esque running boards. Runs like a champ. pretty clean for it's age. Was sitting for 3 years before I got it. Tires are a little flat spotted! :D
This will replace the Benz for DD.

I took out the back seat and ripped all the carpet out...it was trashed. Now it is more like a truck, which is what I wanted...and the AC works too!

The same fabulous paint scheme was carried over to the fiberglass top. You can also see the conversion van running boards that I yanked off on the first day of ownership.

I don't know where these vacuum hoses go and what the little vacuum manifold thingy is for. The check valve thing was unplugged and the manifold "T" is broke off. Any one know what they are for/ where they go. It seems to idle up a little too high after a while..like there is a vacuum leak...when it gets to operating temp...Help me Yota people!

the top one is suppost to look like that, thats like a diaphram, the other pics i cant really tell what your poiting at but i think its the same thing that broke off on mine....

ill look for my schmatics, i pretty much have every last one for it, and i have a 87 4 runner book that the dealer ship would use.. if i find it all i can mail it to you or something, it helped alot, pretty much redid every last hose and wire on one of those things... i think i have some extra injectors and computer too.

cool truck!
if you repaint it I'm gonna kick you in the nuts
the top hangy-down thing is fine, it's not supposed to be connected to anything
the other pics are a temp sensing EGR-related vacuum modulator I think. Get some block-off plates and caps and a pipe plug and get rid of it.

pretty sure that was "I love what you do for me" and it showed a bunch of old ladies and talked about living life in the fast lane

They never showed them land after the double knee jump. lots of potential to eat chit executing that move

what would make it idle up after a while when it's good and warm? I don't have a tach on it yet, but it seems to be idling a little high.

Graystroke

where the pipe plug is is what s broke off...what does the thing that is supposed to be there do?
edit: so how exactly does it control the EGR. Is it just another source to help open and close it?

hell if I know, my junk doesn't have vacuum modulators broken off :flipoff2:
I'm guessing you've got a vacuum leak there and it's idling up when it gets into closed loop. Pull the codes and see if you've got an egr code

well, I added some cool Real Tree camo seat covers and put in a new radio and speakers. I found a cheap JVC at Circuit City for $69 and some new Pioneer 4" speakers for the dash for $49. I have a set of 6"X9" to go in the back behind the fron seat.
Cleaned the PCV and poored some Marvel mystery oil in the crankcase. I need to do a compression check in a few days. Anybody ever used the Gunk engine cleaner? Suppose to get rid of all varnish and clean valves and unstick rings. I still have the high idle thing, though it is not as bad after I adjusted down the throttle plate.
