Chevy weighs 1000 lbs less, has a 6 speed tranny (vs 5 and 4) and makes the most power at the lowest RPM. Where's that Dana 60 though???

Anyway, props to Chevy.

they tested a megacab with an automatic....lame.

In the test they said they wanted to test the "heavy duty trucks", not for hauling the kids around, etc... and then they said they chose automatic cause it was easier to manage? Wankers!

No Dana 60 is needed when you're running 33" tires and not doing a whole lot of heavy off roading.

Give me an Allison auto any day over a NV or ZF.

After putting all three trucks through the ringer for a week, it was clear they're made for work and little else. Without a couple tons of something holding them down, they're miserable on the highway. They also suck down diesel at furious rates, and they're so loud your neighbors will think you're a UPS truck every time you turn the corner.

and although all three trucks come standard with manual transmissions, we tested automatics since they're easier to live with on a day-to-day basis.

This comparison is ghey.

1) They use autos - we're willing to deal with the pain in the ass of a 4wd dually, with bad gas milage, rough ride, and loud noise, but we cant be bothered to shift a standard tranny? lame.

2) They use auto - They're so impressed with the alison downshifting down hills? woo woo, buy a standard truck and do it yourself with 1000 less moving breakable wearable parts

3) They use autos - isnt the duramax turned down quite a bit behind a standard tranny?

4) This one I could be wrong on - Mega cab - they use a megacab which is only 14" shorter overall then a ford crew cab, but then say its going to pull worse cause it only has a 6'-4" bed?

5) Price - they ***** about the price of the dodge but its the only one with navigation system, plus the mega cab is brand new oh yeah and its ugly as my ass.

Anyways those are mythoughts on why this is gay.

X2.

It's a helluva lot easier to pick up speed when the powerband's constant and you don't have to shift.

I sure hope they have better luck with the getrag this time around, behind the 12v's they sucked.

Anybody know the low down on the new cummins 600 or whatever it's called? I thought benzo was going to start manufacturing dodge diesels? Then again, mercedes is owned by ford...

jerryg79

ford owns daimler-chrysler, i think not

the cummins 600 is already out and in my truck, they are coming out with a 6.7 i think, but it was in the bigger trucks last i read, but that was a month or two ago.

Thanks for the clarification, I was being a tard. Ford owns Jaguar, Land Rover, and Astin Martin, not Benz. Hell, they're all from some place I've never been to...

The 6.7 L is coming out in the chassis cab 3500 first, then most likely will trickle down to the 2500/3500.
