nah, I'm pretty bummed. You're telling me that ugly pile is the BEST design they could come up with? I mean the sides and roofline have potential, but the nose is a disaster and the rear is not much better. GM needs to fire every designer and go hire some guys from Ford or Mopar...or dig up Harley Earl and John Delorean. It has a decent engine, but that's really no suprise....Zora Duntov's influence has at least stuck with some powertrain engineers left at GM. Also, if you want an Independent Rear Suspension, buy a Vette. I'm betting this thing is going to be no where near the value of the previous camaros.

thats the first one that ever started the whole movement toward a new retro camaro as far as i know. from what i remember it was drawn by some design student. it looks far better than the real deal.

The '69s are cool in their own right, but I already have an old unreliable car and I can't see dropping $50k+ on a well built one. Nothing wrong with advances in technology. Turns out, things like low road noise and good cornering are pluses.

They just need to put that body onto a new chassis and then have a free give away in which I would win one.

kind of reminds me of 1st gen monte carlos w/ those lights and heavy grill.

I think on the production model they need to extend the nose just a tad bit and soften up the lower valance and bumper...looks almost as blunt as a truck or something.

They should put it on a 4wd blazer Chassis, that would be something!

This was the first camaro thread I could find...figured this was as good of a place to put these as anywhere. According to some of the camaro boards, this is supposed to be the production version. Judging by the orange peel, I would say that is definitely a possibility. Reading what I first posted way back when, my opinion has slightly changed. I still don't like the back, but the front for some reason now looks better. I'd drive it. It would need to be lowered, and a seafoam green metallic with white or black yenko stripes though.

wow can't believe I just read all 15 pages. My highlights (Dertybr is the owner of the wrecked car...seems implausible in his first few posts but gets more believable later on)

Im not trying to stir up anymore stuff but Dertybr, where you the one that bought his Black Camaro out from under a guy that had already made a deposit?

Again, im not saying its you im just asking. There was a fairly wealthy individual that bought out a Black 2SS/RS out from under a guy simply because he had money to do so. And it was from Graves. Im hoping thats not you, but if it is(And you admit it) than ill tell you where you can(And hopefully will) go.

Again...not saying it is you....just trying to get something straight.

I dont know about that. All I know is I was call & said there is a camaro here & a guy from Fla was on his way 2 see it 2. It was'nt anyones order but come on if you had the money & I called you & said you can buy 1 a month b4 anyone else...

and

I am and have been a Deputy Sheriff here in Texas for 12 years and I can tell that by some of the comments that most do not know the first thing it is about or what it is to be a "cop". Most agencies only see maybe 3 to 10 percent of fines paid from tickets, the rest goes back to the city or county to pay for city or county employees. Do not say you know what it takes to be a cop because of a friend who is one or you talked to one once. Until you wear the boots or shoes of a cop you will never understand. And I second the fact that those who say they hate cops, probably are the ones that merely got caught in the act of something they should not have been doing in the first place. Someone also made the comment that they know how to drive, but once an accident happens they are usually the first to deny any wrong doing on their own part, same with speeders, when we stop them they claim no knowledge of their speeding. It is human nature to lie to cops.

You may be able to answer this, as you are a cop. Why are so many small town cops p ricks?

pretty sweet: 101 year old buys an SS

http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2009...426-hp-camaro/

Eight months older than General Motors, Virgil Coffman clearly is not whom Chevrolet had in mind when it decided to bring back the Camaro.

But a bright yellow, 426-horsepower Camaro SS is exactly what Mr. Coffman, who turns 102 in January, wanted when he went to a Chevy dealership near his home in Decatur, Ill., in September. He ordered a “Transformers” special edition model, which is adorned with black stripes to resemble the character Bumblebee from the blockbuster movie.

Mr. Coffman hasn’t seen “Transformers.” He said he just liked how the special-edition Camaro looked — and that only 1,500 are to be produced. He traded in a Chevy Monte Carlo for the new car. “Driving by myself, I didn’t need one of those big cars anymore.” he said. “I wanted a sportscar.”

After learning of Mr. Coffman’s purchase, G.M. flew him to Detroit this week to show him around a design studio and its Heritage Center, a museum filled with hundreds of cars it has built during his lifetime – and, of course, get a little publicity for one of the company’s hottest-selling cars.

Mr. Coffman worked for G.M. from 1950 until 1973, first making bumpers for Cadillacs and later as a chemist. He has owned 35 to 40 different vehicles — mostly G.M., none foreign — starting with a “1920-something” two-door Chevy coupe. This is his first Camaro, and he says he likes it the best.

“The way it looks and the way it handles — you can’t beat it,” he said. “People you don’t even know come up and talk to you in a parking lot.”

Bob Lamb, a nephew who accompanied Mr. Coffman on his visit, said the sales staff at Miles Chevrolet was a bit skeptical of a 101-year-old man who came in looking for the $38,000 Camaro but more than happy to make the deal when they realized he was serious. “He told me, ‘If I keep that 10 or 12 years, it will be worth about $100,000,’” Mr. Lamb said. “He’s very optimistic.”

Since September, Mr. Coffman, who has outlived his wife and three children, has put about 1,800 miles on his new car, though he has yet to take it more than about 50 miles outside of Decatur. And while he loves the powerful V-8 engine, he keeps his speed down — most of the time.

“Once in a while I like to kick it up,” he said. “But I’m afraid to drive too fast and get a ticket, and then they might take my license away.”
