np231 I think. At least thats what the S10s and vehicles with the 4.3 come with. I'm not sure if it also comes behind the 5.3

not to thread steal, but here is a related question I have. Can you get a 5.3 with a standard transmission behind it, or only an automatic? If you could, what tranny would it be, the NV3500?

1/2 ton trucks have an np241. NV4500 behind the 5.3.

I know the 3/4 tons come with a 6.0/NV4500/NP241 combo as standard equipment, but I would be shocked to see the 5.3 with a NV4500 in a 1/2 ton. I'm not saying you're wrong, but that seems like a lot of tranny for that truck, and most people with a 1/2 ton probaly don't want something geared that low.

90's half tons came with NV4500s I believe. I think only 4.3 equiped 1/2 tons (which arent very common) and S10s got 3500's.
