So,
I found another Ford HP Dana 60 today driving in LA. The guy won't part the axles off the truck and wants to sell it the whole thing for $800. I just don't have the time to mess with it.

I really don't understand the truck, it's a F250 with the square front end body style (it says EFI on the driver corner right below the big headlight). I didn't think that those trucks had a D60 on them. There is no bed on the truck, it has an automatic. The doorjam didn't have a year on it but it had a 8800# rating and was on leaf springs. It's the same axle that I have in the garage.

I can get a picture of it on Monday if someone needs me to.

It's in Leesville LA, about 3 hours from Houston.

PM or call me for more info.

Pic's please. Is the rear axle a d70 or 60? Motor I guess would be either the 351 or 400 right?

The big square headlight with EFI under it means 87-91. Those 3/4 ton trucks had leaf sprung ttb and the solid axle conversion was easy. Or it is a 1 ton with different fenders on it. 351 and 460 were the most common, some had the 300. Rear axle would be a sterling 10.25 if its stock. Either way, Scott said it has a 60 front and efi so one of you should buy it. Too bad I have no use for it.

redcagepatrol

no efi on it - must be a different body:

10th digit of the VIN says its an '86.

I think its safe to say that the entire thing is a clusterfawk. even if what john says is true, the whole cab is not an 86.

08-29-2006, 09:05 AM
yeah it is some ghettofied contraption, but the axles are worth it.

also the axle is of the 86-90 model kingpin ford flavor, since the driverside leaf perch is cast into the housing. i would bet thatt some redneck caught the truck on fire, and all the efi crap got burnt up, and then they tried to convert it to carb.

if the door is right it should be a 86 f-350 w/ a 460

well i dont think the doors are right because they match the front fenders which are definatly from 87-91

AggieTJ2007

yes but it looks like the tag is on the white which doesn't match so I think it is right

OK guys - I stopped by today. This truck is still there and is still $800. Someone needs to buy this, even as an investment.

Spend $800 on truck, $200 on fuel and other crap to get it.
- 1100 for axle
- 200 for tranny and t-case
- 100 rear axle
- 200 engine
- 150 steel
= 1750 - you make $750 in a weekend...

make more if you sell body parts and stuff like the steering gearbox.

agjohn02
02-20-2007, 07:01 PM
sounds like you are trying to sell yourself on the idea...

redcagepatrol
02-20-2007, 07:08 PM
I would do it if I didn't have so much to do on the Jeep. I am not allowing myself to leave on the weekends for stuff like that - MUST work on the Jeep...

It really is a good deal :gigem:

How do I get a hold of the owner? I am very interested as im about to be getting some money from a truck i'm selling :gigem:

Does it have a bigblock, c-6, and np205?

Is that the same d60 that would have came in a 70 something ford? if not does it still have the capibility of being built up to 35 spline?

is the back a 10.25?

they have a webpage:
http://www.harveysautoparts.com/

You will have to get a Ford Guru to look at the pics and tell you what all that crap is...

don't know about the motor. looks like a 460. wouldn't trust it since its most likely been on fire at one point. probably has a c-6. i guess it could be an aod. the tcase is a borg warner chain driven aluminum housing. maybe a 1356?

the 60 is not the late 70s version. the driverside leaf spring perch is part of the cast differential housing. 70s version does not have this. all 60s (not sure about the brand new ones) can be built to 35 spline.

rear is a sterling 10.25

If I knew what t-case I'm going to get I'd probably buy it for the axles... Then again if I bought this for the axles it would make my t-case decision pretty simple, just buy a drivers side drop stak...

couldnt go wrong robbie. still would make a couple bills with the other parts even if you kept the front axle

did you describe it as in the pics? no bed, "heavy 4x4 duty" drivetrain. It's off to the right side of the office looking from the street

I would call again and see if you get a different person. Both times that I went there and talked to them it was the same guy - he just know it was the truck with the heavy duty drivetrain...

i asked if he had a 1 ton single cab truck with no bed in the yard and he starts talking about some half ton trucks.
