A new 16' x 76" angle top utility with 2 3500# axles and used tires can be had for $750. The pipe top are a little more but all the ones I found use sprinkler pipe, which is actually cheaper than the angle iron. The pipe top 16' x 83" is about $950. Add $150-200 for new tires, and about $150 per axle for brakes if you want. Pick up an equipment trader, plenty for sale in there.

I picked up my 16' car hauler for $1400, tandem axle, trailer brakes, ramps, etc. The place is right off of 59 on the feeder road by 242.

I would hold out for a 18-20 foot car hauler they pull alot better

Like Mike said, I would go for an 18'. Mine is a 16' and I wish I had an 18'. I think 20' might be too long.

I would look for an 18' tandem axle with trailer brakes. 3500# (5 lug) axles will work, but if you can get heavier (not mobile home) I would definately do that. Oh electric brakes, not hydraulic.

Something like Sharpes trailer, but wider and 18' instead of 20'

You probably oculd just about buy a new 18' tandem 3500 with brakes for 1500.

There is a place in porter trout tire/trailer. Its on 1314 between loop 494 and hwy 59. I was talking to him about trailers awhile back. You can get a 16 for 1500 and a 18 was 1650 or something.

Semi-false alarm....

I'm coming into some money from work, illegal gambling, racketeering, mail fraud, etc. and was going to use it to buy a trailer, even got clearance from the little lady.....

Then I got back to her house on Sun and remembered how little furniture she has, so I think I might do the adult thing and buy some super-fun furniture, so we can live like white people.

******* :flipoff2:

I like my trailer, the biggest things I would change about it though are First and foremost, make the deck wider (avoid 76" wide deck like the plague, most stock trucks wont fit between the fenders) and second, get 8 lug axles (so I only have to carry one spare). I like the 20' deck though, I can put pigpen on there and still have plenty of room for some of the other **** I always seem to be dragging around.

I'd get a straight up car hauler, you can always put stake pockets on it and make sides for it like Grayson's wonderhauler!

Sharpe
09-19-2006, 10:16 AM
You dont even need sides. When I helped Cook move we used CJ's trailer and didnt even strap any of his furniture down cause it started to rain on us and we didnt lose anything on the trip halfway across CS, not even a chair.

83"s wide gonna be wide enough? Will bronco fit between or you gonna have to build ramps over em.

Sharpe
09-26-2006, 06:08 PM
Next step up from 3500's is 5200's, which is what I have on my trailer. Although plenty of people do it, I wouldnt plan on regularly towing a fullsize on tandem 3500's because once the trailer weight, vehicle weight, and then all kinds of extra crap are added on you are approaching the load limit of the axles every time you use the trailer, which is obviously harder on the bearings and brakes.

I personaly prefer wood decks, steel decks get hot as a skillet sitting in the sun and I hear they weigh more. Steel is deffinately more expensive too.

DRAGOONRANCH
09-26-2006, 06:15 PM
Yes steel decks do get hot, but if kept up, they will last forever. Wood decks are much harder to take care of and will not last forever. just mho. ;)

JB
09-26-2006, 07:03 PM
it will squeeze through normal carhaulers, which I think are 83-84" Main question is are two 3500lb axles enough?

Reckless
09-26-2006, 07:08 PM
id go with the 5200's just for safety sake, its better to have too much than not enough

DRAGOONRANCH
09-26-2006, 07:18 PM
What is the curb weight of the truck (estimate would be fine)? I think that you may be pushing it close, but if its only going to be a "weekend now and again" thing then you may be fine. I still subscribe to the bigger is better rule. You could however always upgrade at a later date. It does have rear brakes, but only a 2" ball. I would prefer the 2 5/16ths myself

Sharpe
09-26-2006, 07:18 PM
Yes 3500's will PROBABLY be enough, but you will be operating near the maximum load rating.

uglyota

JB
09-26-2006, 07:25 PM
What I am looking for is a trailer to haul **** on, pick up my buddies broke down pieces, and tow the Bronco MAYBE 6 times a year. My F150 weighs right at 6000. I am unsure on the Bronco, but I would guess around 5500. Of course I would prefer a bigger trailer, but would like to keep it as light as possible(for my 1/2tons sake), with still being safe of course.

18ft with tandem 3500s and brakes on one axle seem to be in my price range. What about the floor? Wood or steel? I assume the wood is lighter, which is good, but is it sturdy enough for a Bronco?

uglyota
09-26-2006, 07:31 PM
John I have a 16ft with tandem 3500s, wood deck (brand new pressure treated) and brakes on one axle that pulls like a dream and I wouldn't hesitate to haul your bronco on, as long as she fits between the rails. 8 2x12s with crossbars every 2 feet aint goin nowhere. Paid $500 for it and dumped another $200 into the deck. I've seen 3 in the last couple weeks on craigslist for 350-600, all need decks. I think it's a pretty ideal do-anything trailer

DRAGOONRANCH
09-26-2006, 07:33 PM
I don't think the wood/metal weight is going to be much of a difference. It depends on the bracing that they put in it. The wood should hold the bronco though, you wont have any trouble for a good while atleast.

Sharpe
09-26-2006, 07:34 PM
3500's will probably be fine but as someone who has almost been in several trailer -related wrecks I will recomend GETTING BRAKES ON BOTH AXLES REGARDLESS OF THE COST. That is all...

Well it says 4900 lb payload in the add. Your bronco is probably over 6000. These offroad vehicles allways weigh more than they look. But it should handle it fine anyways. Wood will handle the weight fine. I've also heard the metal is heavier but have not confirmed it. Watch out for what tires you get on a trailer. Many are sold with ****ty used tires. Better ones use cheap new car tires. Best is new trailer tires like the one in your add has.

If it were me, I would not get smaller than a 350. Wade has a 250, and when compared to riding Hardy's 350 or Squeak's 400, I would much prefer the larger bike. Plus I have seen Wade's in situations where it just will not move. Of course I also have some additional weight to move around....

i found a used honda 350 in the chronicle for $2300. I remember we tried and tried to get Trykoski's stuck and couldnt.

The lease is out in Camden north of livingston by moscow literally next door to the paper mill. Its only about 200ish acres but they are the only ones on it along with another guy from samantha's work his sister, they only pay about $200/yr when its all said and done.

I don't think they make 4-wheelers with a clutch, they have a centrifugal clutch (auto clutch, when the engine spins down it disengages). Some are acutally automatic like cars. The good thing about the auto is you can talk on your cell phone and put on make up at the same time :flipoff2:

I've had a Honda Recon 250 since I was in the 5th grade and it's a soldier for all the crap it's been through. I put an FMF pipe, rejetted carb, and other stuff on it, and it'll move for a little 250. I got a Sportsman 500 H.O. probably 4-5 yrs ago and it's awesome, I've never had any problems with it nor any of the Ranger's or Big Boss my parent's have. We use them everyday back home and then for hunting up at the ranch. I used to ride down at the San Jac. river everyday with my friends, we'd also head down to Spring Creek on the weekends every now and then...oh the good ol' days.

suzuki lt230s. The 250r was the next model, but the 2 did overlap for a while. They're pretty similar except mine has a 4 stroke, with 11.25:1 compression. The 250r was also a little longer to help keep the front on the ground. Mine likes the wheelies. Both honda and suzuki made 250rs, I'm not sure who was out with them first.

suzuki lt230s.
Am I the only person that is having trouble picturing Kopecki riding a wheely?
