Not really mine but maybe, I need help identify what years the waggy's had 44's f/r also when did they have a pass side drop. I might be able to aquire a free one out of town but i need to know what year to look for.

get one made before 1980 for passenger drop. i think they also switched to the model 20 in 1980, but not 100% sure.
76-77 would be the best year to get because it uses the small spindle so you could switch to 5 lug, and it had flat top knuckles.

ok i'v read alot about switching to 5-5.5 lug from 6 lug and was wondering if their are any benifits. Of course on major one would be i dont have to get new rims but that actually is not that big of a deal. My question is are 5 lug better than 6 or should i stick with the 6 lug thats coming with it?

I'm also gonna use the rear granted it is a 44.

I'm a cheap bastard, if your willing to get new wheels, go for 6 lug. why not use a wagoneer model 20? are you going to gear it lower than 4.88?

5 bolt studs are thicker, so that probably makes up for having 1 less stud.

I have a 44 right now and would really like to stick with 44's but i need the full width aspect of it.

it'll have a th400, not a 727.

wagoneers didnt get model 20's at the same time as the cj's. i think 1980 is when they started getting them, same time they went to the 727. and around 87 is when they went back to the 44 in the rear

also, if you get an automatic waggy that has a passenger side drop, the rear will be offset. you'll need to find one with a 3 or 4 speed, or mix and match parts from a 70's and an 80's one.

or,you could be cool like me and get a scout rear, wagoneer front, and make it 5 on 5.5. its not that expensive if you have to get new rotors anyway.

i have an 84 and an 86 waggy both have the 6 lug model 20 rears with the D44 up front and a driver side drop. I think that 74 maybe had the passenger drop i dont remember but i am doing a waggy axle swap on my CJ-5 soon and i am using the 20 rear and a D44 passenger side drop. my 86 has the 360 witht t 727 and np288 selectrac i would stay with jeep axles but then again thats my biased.
