I saw the (former) Booger listed on LHOR... Nice buy!

That thing has a long history with their club, it should be fun to cover up that paint.

you should just cover the orange with maroon. otherwise keep it the same. then be sure to post it where they will see it.

Wasn't it orginally Hal's? I thought Cam had it last.

Yep, I ran accross it on LHOR too, and e-mailed Dave (I think that was his name) and he gave me the low-down on it. I felt real good about it after that and dove in head first. I had planned on "maroon outin" the or@nge parts, I think it will look real good like that. Need a name for it though, as Booger is on hold still from an old dog of ours. So this thing needs a paint job and a name. Any good leads to find some maroon, I can get some but its gonna be house paint and don't want to redneck it out...

I would suggest a longhorn with the horns sawed off as well, but that whole thing is kinda played out.

I think it just looks that way because the front fenders are so hacked.

It was Hal's, then Dave (Rock Macaque) bought it, and then I don't remember... but I think the guy Ed bought it from was the fourth, maybe fifth, owner in their club. It'll be cool to see it go maroon.

Are they ugly, or are they ugly because they turned you down and you're pissed? I say hit it and get it, when are you going to be in CO again??! Just don't take any pics and tell your friends she was hot! I hear that's what Mike does with pharmaceutical sales girls!

My brother Eric will probably get a lot of seat time in this one, but I hope to see some in it too. I enjoy it when the family comes out with me, so it will see plenty of trails (and give me a good back-up when I am floggin on the cheby and grenade it.)

how about stick welding 13-0 on the rear quarter panel? (kind of like a real brand)

On that transmission. A T4 has a crooked shifter, and a T176 has a straight shifter. The T4 is light duty and shifts easy like a light duty transmission. The T176 is stronger and will shift alot like your 465.

I don't know if the shifter plate not being bolted down would cause this, but that will be the first thing to get fixed.

I was thinking of cutting the "13 v 0" out then backing it with expanded metal and put the center of the 0 back in. Would look kick ass at night with a red light from inside some how.

Varsity it is then.

SOA will come when the 60/14 in the barn gets put back together, and that will be a pretty good while. Plans are to run H1s on them to keep it a little narrow and run the military 36s on them. I want to keep this one reasonalble.

ok, tryin to do some web fab today and lookin at tire sizes and axle ratios for the heep. I am thinking the axle swap shouldn't take more than a day or two with having to go get brakelines and other parts and such. I am planning on using the nefarious green 60 that everyone knows of. Can somebody let me know what is in the diffs (as in what gears and are they lincoln locked or what). Also, is there anything that might be wrong with them so I can head this off at the pass before I get home. Any and all help will be much appreciated.

Oh yeah, the plan is to run the 60 and corp 14 with H1's non-recentered to keep it on the narrow side, so will H1's take a 60 high steer. I am thinking yes, but not for sure.

AggieTJ2007
12-24-2006, 10:33 PM
for the high steer on H1's I think there are some special arms so tha the wheels don't rub on on the arms

Just check with the manufacturer of the arms to make sure they'll work with Hummer wheels.

Those axles were welded and I think have 5.13s. For the high steer, some here would know. Daveo has them on his cruiser.

DRAGOONRANCH
12-25-2006, 09:11 PM
the 5.13's would get me down pretty good for the crawl (at about 83:1), and 1.5 fps at 750 rpm. Highway would be a little rough though, I would only be running 55 at 2500 rpms.

12-26-2006, 08:54 AM
How big of tires you thinking? What motor that thing got? If a 258 you're gonna need to be geared like that to move it down the road. You probably won't be doing much driving over 55mph anyway, just let it spin.

DRAGOONRANCH
12-26-2006, 09:21 AM
either some of the 36's that came on the H1's or my trusty ol 38's from the cheby... I know you wanted them pretty bad and all... :flipoff3:

davido
12-26-2006, 10:22 AM
I had to do offset arms. You'll have to torch off the stock steering to even get the wheels on. When I bought mine they were one of three existing pairs that I knew of at the time. I had to search high and low to find them. Now everyone is whoring them out online. I've had good experience with Rockstomper in the past. Mine are 1" plate (I believe) and have worked great. Zero issues. I really like having the tierod behind the axle. Not that it matters really, but both of mine are double ended.

davido

In response to your PM:

Outboarding is actually pretty easy (especially in the context of everything you're doing already). I used some 3" angle iron, braced it, and welded the Cruiser mounts to it. I know Jeeps don't have mounts like Cruisers, but there's probably an equally simple way to do it. I'm sure there is TONs of documentation online for that. I think BTF even has weld in parts for it. You'll want to do a shackle reversal anyway, so it knocks out both at once. You may even move to YJ or longer springs while you're at it. I've thought about going to coils or the like because with the big tires and hella offset wheels, they get into the springs when I turn, but it's not really a huge issue. It's close to maxing anyway.

Thanks for the info David. I will have to get a look at he axle again to see if the pumkin side perch is ok, as it is set up for 4-link right now. I wanted to link it before, but got talked out of it, now I don't know. I think my best course of action is going to be getting a rebuild kit for both of the axles and putting new bearings and seals and just generaly getting them cleaned up. The 60 is in a thousand pieces at the knuckes right now, so this is going to have to be put back together. I will just go ahead and get these ready next trip, and then sit back and take a good look at it and see what will need to be done to get it right. My plans are to make it to TCC and then to the Redneck games in August (if thats when they will be again). I am just going to finish the wiring and a few other issues for now and wheel the piss out of it at TCC. This will give me plenty of time to get all the parts gathered up again in a huge pile in my barn until I start, kind of like the chevy. :D

DRAGOONRANCH

Thanks to Rowdy and Creighton it looks like I will have some free time when I come home this time. I was wanting to put the won-tuns up and start getting them together. I would like to get these ready to slap under it the next time I am home for the redneck games. I am thinking that a reduction box of some sorts may be in order while it is going to be up on blocks. I have been looking at a klune or a 231, but there is a klune type in crawl that says they are a more economical version of the klune. Thanks to John, the teralow 4:1 is in already, so I atleast have a head start on all of this. I will be finishing up the paint job, lights, and other misc. wiring issues this time around along with anything else that comes up.

I never so much as took of my wheels and tires until my rig had been on the trail for about three years. Never even replaced the fluid in the front axle. :) I ran it straight out of the box. It wasn't until I welded the front that I needed the hubs to unlock, so I replaced them and went 35 outters at the same time. I bought from 4wdfactory in Hutto.

Thinkin about puttin this one up for sale to somebody in the club. I really don't need the extra set of wheels right now, and I hate for this thing to not get driven. It needs front left wheel bearings (I have them, just need to be installed), carb overhaul possibly, and a few other nick nacks I cant think of right now. It has the 4:1 terra low and twin stick on the 300 now. $3500. I might be open to other offers and trades. PM me w/ what ya think might work, ya never know, I may be in a good mood that day. :D
