Well I have plenty of scrap 1 3/4" tubing, that has been cut up and is like 6', 10' and anything in btw, but if he only wants 20' joints that have never been touched, then i will just keep to myself.

I am amazed at how cheap everyone in this club is (including me) yet you expect brand new metal? Ah poo on that.

incorrect where i buy hrew or dom through my guy it either comes in 24ft,22ft,21ft, or 20ft. the stuff for my steering came in 24 ft joint from the factory.

also 3 dollars a foot is not bull**** thats what i paid for the same dom about a month and a half ago.

I just paid 2.71 a foot through E.m. jorgenson, when u buy tubing u pay for random lenths but only twenty of it

what kinda shape is the scrap in (rust, etc)? And what is it, dom or HREW (it can't be pipe cause it'll mess up the bender) For my original plan, I needed 2 pieces longer than 10 ft, but not by much. I can most likely change plans though to accomadate it. If nothing else I may grab 2 sticks from creighton and some scrap from you.

ok here are prices as delivered to CS by me to your door

1.75x.120 DOM $3.05
1.25x.120 DOM $4.00

1.75x.120 4130 $5.05
1.75x.095 4130 $5.05

Lenghts for the Chromoly must be over 200ft or add .50-.75

Also what was that thickness for the steerig stuff, I might buy 40-60ft of that stuff too.

Everyone let me know what they want and I will get started on the order. I am going to have to take paypal from yall and then pick the tube up on monday. I should also be able to get the tube delivered on monday as well.

Why is 1-3/4 cheaper than 1-1/4?

AggieTJ2007
10-10-2006, 04:55 PM
Because I only got a quote for 40ft vs 700ft

CRaSHnBuRN
10-10-2006, 04:59 PM
larger demand = easier to come by most likely. As for steering, I would say .25 wall or thicker. 1.5x.25 would probally be good since you can get 3/4-16 (heim) and 7/8-18 (1 ton TRE) weld in bungs with a 1 inch OD just about anywhere

stx4wheeler
10-10-2006, 05:02 PM
when i got my 1.5 in with .25 wall it for my steering it was like 6 dollars a foot. to give some of you all a decent idea on price.

garrett, do you have enough room to store this in your garage? This stuff rusts fast if left out. Remember you can lay it under a rig if need be.

Creighton, I'm in for a 100 ft. Just let me know when you need the money. I'm thinking its time for a bending party

Doug Krebs

When are you making this order?

how much would I need for a tie rod and a drag link on a d60? 8 foot? Like I said before, I'll take 100 ft of the 1.75x.120 dom and whatever I need for steering

AggieTJ2007

i would get 8 in case you screw something up, or the spare piece makes a nice people beater or ghetto hammer, but 6 would prolly be enough unless you mess something up. im thinking me and clarke used around five or five and a half, i can measure when i get back home today.

CRaSHnBuRN
10-12-2006, 09:09 AM
for both the drag link and tie rod? Granted I haven't measured it, but 5.5 seems really short. Either way, I can always find uses for the extra stuff. Myabe if the length is long enough I'll have enough for an spare tie rod. That sounds good to me creighton. When will you want the money?

stx4wheeler
10-12-2006, 09:26 AM
sorry thought you only meant for tie rod, tie-rod was in that 5 foot range, and my draglink(with crossover) was prolly close to 4ft i can measure when i get home.

clarke went with chevy tre's, and so his draglink is considerably smaller(2 or at the most 3ft), plus his power steering gear box is mounted inside the frame where as mine is outboard of the frame.

CRaSHnBuRN
10-12-2006, 09:34 AM
okay, that sounds right then. Had me really confused for a minute cause even my little narrow toy axles needed nearly 8 ft of stuff

stx4wheeler
10-12-2006, 09:55 AM
steering is not something you want to go small on, plus most people go with 1.5 that cause it is the norm so the inserts are cheaper for it. With 1.25 you would prolly not have enough room for an insert, and also may not have enough room to just tap the tube and it be strong enough.

CRaSHnBuRN
10-12-2006, 10:17 AM
yeah, get the 1.5 and some inserts. Perhaps we can get a group order on them together as well. The nice thing with the 1.5 is you can sleeve it with some of the other DOM we're getting if you need the thickness and have the room for it

fj80 ends fit perfectly in 1.25x.250 tubing with a tap, but you're right, it might be wise to have other options, even if i do end up with the fj80 tres.

CRaSHnBuRN
10-12-2006, 10:28 AM
have you priced the cost of that tap. I'm betting after the cost of the tap and tubin, you would be better off buying it from a vendor ready made. And since you running a d44 anyway, why not run 1 ton TREs or hiems?

FJ-80 tre's are "1 ton". I'm not going heim, since I've bought my arms, I've decided to go tre, so I need to find a new set of arms and unload the ones I have.
