I'm wanting to buy the girlfriend a radar detector for her birth day. Whats a good detector for under $200? I've heard Cobra is good but what else is out there?

escort passport

but, don't waste your money, just tell her not to speed more than 7 mph over, unless she doesnt know anything about where she is, then drive 4 over, and be good.

They make different models of the passport, there are some cheaper ones, or look for one used.

Or just buy the cheapest one possible and spend the rest on yourself since it no matta anyway.

I've never really understood the point of detectors. Unless the cop is just sitting with his radar on, which they rarely do anymore, the only time its going to beep is when they tag you.

Aren't Valentine's supposedly the best? I heard they're like 1,000 bucks and if you get a ticket while using one they pay for it? Is this true?

i wouldnt buy one unless you get a good one (escort, valentine, ect). If you get a cheap one they wont go off until its way too late. My escort will go off miles before i can see the cop which gives me plenty of time to slow down. They really only help when your on a nice straight highway where the cop is running radar ahead of you or in town where a cop drives around with the radar on. If you are the only person on the road and it goes off then of course your screwed but they do come in handy sometimes.

Steven, your location thing is awesome. Looks like hard-wood in...***.

If you can swing it I'd buy a good one. Just my opinion though, don't buy cheap and replace later, buy quality now and keep forever.
