what is needed to replace the lower bearing on the cj tilt manual steering column, by looking at the diagrams it looks like\
1.detach steering shaft
2.remove snap ring from column
3. remove plastic retainer
4. remove bearing
5. replace in opposite order.
is that it, just double checking myself so i don't have anymore surprises on this cj.

edit: its really a 80's gm column, but i wasn't thinking and bought the bearing kit for jeep, this WILL work though. . . right?

i disagree. is it the stock steering column? jeep just used a gm column and you just paid more for the kit since it said jeep on it.

i don't think its the stock steering column, its for an automatic and i have a manual you can see if you look hard enough where the previous owner removed the lift level and welded and ground it smooth. I don't know i think it may still work, it has the same number of splines and shaft diameter as the jeep or it wouldn't have matched the new borgeson steering shaft i installed, which is from a jeep.
