I would go with 3/16 or 1/4 plate you are not gonna be pulling out the Edmund Fitzgerald.

i have pulled out a lot of full sizes witht the old winch and tore up that mount so i wasn't sure how big to make it this time don't want to have to do it again. and as far as the trade i need both a roller for the front which i already have and a hawse for the rear. if someone doesn't have one soon i will probably buy a new one

colman

The warn quick connects are too expensive. Here is the part numbers for the ones yoou can get from Oreilly auto parts. I have got these for some of my customers before. You will need to check to see which ones they can get. You will need to order 2 of which everone you get.

part # line code
bh510 bwd for 6 gauge wire
bh518 bwd for 4 gauge
bh514 bwd for 1/0
bh516 bwd for 2/0

are those just welding lead disconnects?

I saw some at the Clayton Napa/Feed store, they were grey but would have worked.

i have 4 welding lead connects but if someone had a quick connect laying around i would have used it i think that i will just solder the 2 sets of wire together instead

Anybody want to trader a roller fairlead for a hawse? Anybody got some synthetic winch line that they want to sell off? I just got my winch on the truck and want to get rid of this cable and roller fairlead...

Why? I can see the niche for rope if its on a comp buggy and every pound counts or if you need to replace the cable anyway but on a brand new winch on a DD that wont be seeing much action? I'll stick with my cable.

30lb weight savings may be worth it for him off the very front of his rig. Safety is just about reason enough. And he can probably sell his cable to offset some of the cost.

In my opinion the rope is easier to use, I didn't properly calculate the amount of weight I was adding onto my springs and it compressed em a little more than I wanted and made for a much rougher ride in the front, so i figure any way to get any weight off the front of my truck could probably help you know?

Also, it may be my DD but I wheel at least twice a month and once I get my steelies and swampers I will be more willing to tackle the situations that would require the use of a winch on a more frequent occurance. I don't see any reason why not to go to winch rope considering most winch ropes are rated to pull as much if not more than a cable of the same thickness, or did I misinterpret something? knowing me i probably misunderstood something technical....

The only reason not to swap to the rope is price, everything else points towards the rope, that and you already have cable.

Yeah the price is my main concern. What are ya'lls opinions on a hawse versus a roller fairlead? any advantages of one over the other besides look and weight?

I disagree. If you were using a winch alot at a place like katemcy, I think I'd much rather have cable.

I've used cable since I got my winch and don't have alot of experience with rope, so I can't comment on it much. Cable has never given me any problems.

sandy and muddy enviroments like at 47 can also shorten the life of rope quickly.

The UV light is hard on the ropes too. I would stay with the cable.

Yeah, I'm slowly working on that. I think it's actually the controller and not the solonoids.
