I've got a motor on the way that'll need machining. Anyone know of a good machine shop? Would rather not go to Villas, heard too many bad things. So anyone used a good shop down around Houston or San Antonio?

Karl took his LT1 to a shop in houston but he has yet to run it. But a guy we know has a chub for the place. I will see if I can dig up the name.

Owen's Racing Engines, they aren't cheap, but from what I saw they were good. USA Racing Engines built my Dad's Vette motor. Both are in Houston, neither are cheap

The kid that works at the machine shop in waco had some maching work done in waco, I you are interested in somewhere close waco would work, I would even be able to possible pick up and deliver the engine to you for a good price

For the record 2 302's ,65hp evinrude, and my xr80 locked up. I am all about buying new engines. I am not gonna do this rebuild stuff again on car engines gonna be new from hear on out. I can handle the boat and motorcycle rebuild stuff.

Maybe if you paid more than $400 for a rebuilt engine they would last longer?

Thinking about doing a 393 stroker, uses a new crank, stock rods, and 302 pistons. The new crank runs about $275 from summit, I figure it'd cost around $100 if the old crank needs turning, so for $175 I get 42 cubic inches. Plus 302 pistons are a little cheaper than 351. Whats everyone's opinions, just rebuild the 351 or do the 393?
