I want to find a kitten for my girlfriend. Anyone know where I can find one for free/cheap? I've been watching the paper, craigslist, etc. and really haven't found anything yet. Adopting from a shelter is out of the question, because the shelter always wants to call our apartment complex to check the restrictions, and the complex tells them the animal has to older than a year (even though everyone around us has puppies).

Cats in the house really suck. They get in everything and hair is everywhere, dishwasher, washer, cabinets, dishes, clothes, couch, on top of refrigerator, in refrigerator, on beer, on steak. Some even made it to my chair at work. I now have cat allergies and have red eyes every morning. Get a small dog with short hair, at least you can throw them a ball and take them on outdoor trips, and they're trainable.

Just tell them you own or use someone else's address or have a friend get it for you.

A stray cat followed me home from school one day. From northgate all the way to my apartment. Buuuut I haven't seen it since then.

furry, snobby and evil. they even have a little mechanism in them that emits anti-masculine radiation. put your ear up to them, you can hear it. what more do you want to know?

Like I said, we tried that a couple of times allready in the last 3-4 months, and were hasseled each time. She has tried several times herself, and had friends try for her using different addresses. I tried to go get her one by myself again last week, and they wouldn't give it to me since my permenant address was out of the county and in a rural area, not a city. I mean WTF, its in Dime Box, which is 30 minutes from here. And like I said, the GF is in her fourth year of veternarian school, and donates her personal time and money to these shelters. Who do you think nueters all these animals at the shelter? The students at the vet school do. But everytime she tries to adopt, they hit her with another restriction, so screw them

What is really funny is the knee jerk reaction so many of you have to just the mention of a cat.

Saenz Tamales in Bryan is the Shiznizzle for Tamales. He pretty much just runs a hangout for mexicans on Friday and Saturday, but he makes badass tamales around the holidays. He may have more permanent hours these days or it may be shut down, haven't talked to the guy in awhile. If you go, tell Al that Jimmy sent you.

most tamales I've eaten were nothing special, until a friend started bringing brought some back from near his hunting lease. I think the place was in west texas, and basically this old mexican man spent the week making chicken, beef, and pork tamales, then sold them on the side of the road on saturday. I want to say he made between 50-60 dozen every week, and always sold them out within 3 hours. I've never eaten another tamale that could even compare to these things.

The best tamales can't be bought, unfortunately. They're given around Christmas time. However I remember a dozen that were awesome that I bought from a guy who was selling them out of a cooler in the trunk of his car on Pena Blvd in Denver. Wonder if he's still there? :flipoff2:

Hey, get your own thread! :flipoff2:

Back on topic, I used to work at Garcia's in College Station, their tamales where ok when they first made them, but then as they aged (a week or two) they got bad....

You will be hard pressed to find a truly good tamale in a restraunt (even the real authentic ones). The good ones are made by hand in some ol' meskins house and are made of pork (hogs head to be a little more precise).

The ones you find all over houston in the gas stations in a crock pot sellin 3 for a dollar are not bad though. A dozen of these and two tall boy budweisers are the best colonic evarhhh!!!! :gigem:

If Travis doesn't gend up getting a kitten for you then there is a lady at my work who loves out in the country and she had some barn cats that had some kittens. She is older and isn't to camera savy so I can't get pics but they will be ready in about 5 weeks if you are interested. They are black and white and some are blonde, there are two litters. Chris and I are thinking about getting one if Molly doesn't eat it.

She didn't know if she would have the time to take care of it so she didn't get one. So I bought her a turtle instead. So, and decent recipes for turtles? :flipoff2:

They really were playing - though in the process my dog launches the cat sometimes with it's nose ... check out the videos

Oh, and we exposed the cat to Churchhill (my brother-in-law's 100# pit) this past weekend. He was very friendly but there is no way I would ahve felt comfortable leaving it with him. That dogs head is so big it could have swallowed that cat without noticing.

A kitten came right through our shop the other night. I saw something small and fuzzy out of the corner of my eye. I hesitated to turn around because I thought for sure it would be an opossum or a rat. I tried to catch it but it hauled ass. It couldn't have been more than a month or two old.
