View Full Version : Anyone have a Protools bender in town?

I know sharpe has one, but I think it's at his shop in corpus. I know most of the other people have JD2.

I need to borrow 1 piece of each arm to take measurements. I bent mine a while back and I'm going to make another set out of 1". I tried taking measurements from mine, but they are too inconsistent.

We've got one....not really going to help you from dallas. I don't know if ours has 1" arms....but I remember it being able to handle 2", so it must be heavier duty than the standard 105.

Can you get measurements on the arms from Protools?

Mine is a JD2 but it is indeed in kingsville. I want to put one of those ratchet gizmos from a protools bender on it though...

I just need the hole pattern. I'm going to put it in the mill and use the digital readout to get the pattern, unless it's completely obvious.

Would ya'll mind if I borrowed it sometime when you're not going to use it? It would only take a couple of minutes. I know that doesn't help since you're 4 hours away, and it's annoying to take it apart.

Need to barrow a 1.75 or 1.25" die? I might have a 1.5" die in a couple months.

I thought I remembered one of the "I built my own bender" threads on shop&tool talk on pirate having dimensions...

I searched pirate and couldn't find any for pro tools. I've found plans for JD2 if anyone wants them

Fawk all the DRO gayness. Just put the arm down on some butcher paper and lay it out with some layout fluid.

How accurate do you really have to be? The edge finder and the DRO is only good to .002-003 thousandths i think. Maybe not even that.

PS tell roberto hi for me. I should skip work on friday someday and come have lunch with him.

Ah yes I was hoping for an awesome comment as soon as I saw you posted on the thread! :flipoff2:

I layed out my old arms on graph paper and measured, but they are too bent.

I wasn't going to use the edge finder, all though I can get it within a thousandth. I only want the holes accurate. I could care less whether the edge of the arm is off by an 1/8th as long as the holes are ok.

I would be impressed if you can turn out parts within +-.010 haha.

Jimmy?? Fred??

I'm trying to find dimensions online, but I'm having difficulty. I've found one set, but the holes don't match up.
