Well, Ive finally got pics of my '01 Crewcab Duramax 4x4. It has an Edge with Attitude, Eclipse surround sound, leather, Allison 1000 Auto, straight pipe, JB weld modified T-Case Kennedy Diesel airbox mod, and bumper jumpers.

straight piped diesels = worse than ricer coffee-can exhaust

nice truck though

Reckless

The Duramax w/ straight pipe doesnt sound anything like a cummins or a powersmoke. It has a throatier sound like a turbo muffler on a 454.

JB
08-24-2007, 07:39 PM
I'd have to hear it, but yeah most straight pipes I have heard are on Cummins for some reason

What the deal with the t-case is that up to 05 i think, is that the internal oil pump in the t-case, the shaft breaks a wear clip and wears a hole through the case. Resulting in a leak. Merchant Automotive in Wisconsin has a billet wear plate to fix this problem.

whats a bumper jumper? do you have a removable diving board for the big gals on your bumper?

I like the tcase "mod." I'm hopping that if mine goes that route, it happens before the ext warranty is up otherwise it'll be a pack of bubble gum and some jb :gigem:

Reckless
08-25-2007, 09:19 AM
Its a jumper cable setup in the front. Look at the grill guard by the Driver side headlight. The t-case is only on the 2500-3500 hd diesel and 8.1 gasser

robertf03

is that for when you're in the pits between runs?

Reckless
08-25-2007, 04:40 PM
Yea. We have a lot of tractors, so it makes it easier to boost them off instead of popping the hood all the time and it takes the guess work out of hooking them up. Ask fred, they are a life saver.

Well I ordered my Tcase parts today from Merchant Automotive. They were some of the best people to deal with on the phone. The lady know more about it than I do. Spent bout 6 bills on the parts to get them here by friday. The mod pump plate was 250, and the new back half of the case was 275. It isnt really needed if it hasnt rub through but guess what. It did. Ill get pics of the mod. If ya have a 01-06 Duramax with the electric T-case, i stress ya do the mod.

Well, it becomes more and more of a damn project day by day. Had a massive blowout between riesel and calvert yesterday on the way home. The power steering box has been leaking. Well, the force of the blowout finished off the box. Had to bypass the steering to make the hydroboost work. The steering box blew out lots of o-rings out the sector shaft seal. GM wants 700 for a new box. Found the same box from AGR for 450. Its the SB2 for the street. All thrust bearings and timkin needle bearings on the sector shaft. Will have pics from the removal and such coming up within the week.

DRAGOONRANCH

No, it came from china then after some redneck blows out a tire and turns it in for a core, it gets sent to mejico to get rebuilt. ;)

uglyota
06-17-2008, 11:37 PM
from my experience most starter and alternator cores take a turn as the 'futbol' before being rebuilt, I imagine steering boxes are about the same. AGR sounds pretty good, I don't think they play 'futbol' in Oklahoma.

They use buckshots on the trucks at the coal mine. Also some of the nitto or toyo all terrains on the half tons.

Got new steering box in today from AGR. When it cools down around 6ish its going in. Pics to follow if camera will cooperate. Also found a hole in the intercooler to intake pipe. Damn powersteering hose rubbed the pipe. Fixed it with good ole JB weld.

Update. The t-case wasnt engaging into 4wd. Took it out and the shift yoke was fubared because the rear seal was leaking. Replaced yoke and seal. Went to test the 4wd in the driveway, it showed it was in 4 hi. This is one of the bastard push button t-cases I remind you. Pushed it into 2wd and just stayed in 4. I tried every combo in the book, Netural, Park, back and forth. Well then i checked the electrical connections and they were fine along with the shift motor. Come to find out there is a rotary sensor that tells what mode it is in. Well, apprently my year model only used a different type of this encoder sensor, while the new ones 02-08 use a different style. I have called all over the US and every junk yard or dealer wants to sell the whole t-case or the motor sensor combo which is 600 new. All i need is just a fvcking $40 sensor. But I got one trans shop that might can get me one. NP t-cases are a PITA. On another note, BigHorns do suck. I might get 20-25K if im lucky

no, these t-cases are only found behind the allison transmissions, you probably have the autotrak if the controls are 4 button

The leafspring plate to hanger setup is good for jeeps and other light/low HP/Torque setups, but not with what you have.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1297059&postcount=24

I think if you build one like in the link above you will be just fine. You will just need to build it heavy enough for your lead foot. If you have enough room to build a crossmemeber from one side of the frame to the other, then put it right next to the differential. If the forward mount will only be hung off of one side of the frame, then keep it as close to the side as you can.

Reckless
05-17-2009, 02:28 PM
Im not a big fan of that style on a dd, ive read some other threads and they are running 2 bars, one on each side.

I sent JOHNBOY a pm on his setup and see what he has.
