Looks like I might be able to make this one. Anybody want the extra spot on the trialer. Should have a spot or two for the ride down also. I was going to try to convoy down w/ whomever on Friday afternoon.

I'll take a spot, ed, unless somebody ends up needing it badly, anyway.

That sounds fine. Hopefully we will have a good turn out at this one. I always have a blast at alto.

I don't know how badly this is but I would like that spot on the trailer being that I have yet been able to make a single trip with the club and I don't have my own trailer. Either way it won't hurt my feelins.

I'm in, I'l probably be leaving fairly late friday afternoon. I'll have 3 seats on the way there and 1 seat on the trail.

In the other thread I said I had plans, but I was looking at the wrong weekend. I have a bachelor party that has come up for next weekend, but the details on that are still TBA, so I don't know if I'll be able to make it to that or not. If it is a further drive to go to that than Alto, I'll more than likely come to wheel in Alto. That is if I can get the frame of Lurch rigged back together enough to hold the body up. I'll post some pictures of that. Heh.

Fredo
09-16-2007, 10:07 PM
Spent from 8am to about 8pm saturday restructuring the rear of the frame on lurch. The doors even shut correctly on the strikers again! So basically it's ready to go f'up again. I think I'm in....so who all is going on this trip?

Fredo

you watched lassie? The coolest part of Lassie was the late 50's GMC Cameo pickup the dad on the show had. Same with the monkeys. That wierd ass limo contraption to look like a long superbird was about the coolest thing they had going too.

I'm not sure if you have the same engine/efi as my 95 Ford, but the acting like it's gonna die when you hit the gas problem has happened to me and some others. The problem ended up being a bad TPS each time. Mine would work fine for a while then all of a sudden would have no power. It would idle fine, but giving it throttle would make it want to die. Maybe you have a combination of this and a faulty regulator. I know it's new, but that doesn't mean it can't be defective.

if you can find a 94 or 95 it'll have a remote mounted ICM with a big ass heat sink, same ICM, slightly different distributor but you can just extend the wiring and make it work.

oh really? We didnt wheel with them at all. And we are going back out tomorrow but they said they were leaving early. He busted the jeep and Ed was runnin in 2wd. I think he broke a shaft.

AggieTJ2007
09-23-2007, 09:09 PM
for the news, I busted a rear u-joint because I broke my limiting straps and broke a front u-joint climbing a hill in 2nd gear w/ krawler hittling the rev limiter in front wheel drive.

drove it back to camp with one wheel drive and whill backing into the shade it busted the ball joint

Ed managed to bust both front shafts while wedging his truck firmly inbetween 2 trees, one in front touching the stinger and another holding the tailgate shut.

we had to cut a tree, with permission of the owners, to get it out

he should have pictures but I was able to pull the inner axleshaft yoke out of the nuckle with the tire still one.

Good stuff

they on the way home we discovered a blown inside dual and was unable to find a replacement so we drove to dallas with a blow inside dual chunking rubber as we drove down the highway.

Also his alignment must be fcked because the driverside front on the truck was worn to the cords is several spots on inside so we had to change it as well.

Fun drive home

DRAGOONRANCH
09-23-2007, 09:23 PM
Inside left rear dual on the trailer.

It made it all the way back to the house like that, will get it fixed in the a.m. I don't think I took one frikin picture all weekend. I was to pissed about the broken u-joints and shafts on the beast to think about it. It did pretty good in 2wd on saturday on the way back to camp from the 4 wheeler comps. There were some pretty good hills and holes that required a good bit of finesse of the skinny pedal. Once the "upgrades" are done, there will be plenty of good video of the beast gettin beat to ****. :) Good time were had, I met up w/ some folks from Durango (a little town in our school district) that I sorta knew and got to wheel w/ them Friday night. That is when the truck got wedged and broke. Guess I shouldn't try to follow a sammy anymore :D It only took us 3 hours to find it the next morning. (Lets just say there were plenty of libations consumed both nights. )

Funny reading back on this thread though, the same tire (just the front axle this time) shelled it's cap coming through San Marcos on 35. That was a sight to look back and see the cap about 15 feet in the air with traffic behind me. Lucked out and no one was hit. I can't remember what the brand of those tires is, but they are complete sh!t. Put some Hankooks on so we will see how they hold up.
