Is propane street-legal in Texas? I think it might be an easier alternative to EFI.

if you need any info, pm fredo, he's quite knowledgable in the fields of propane powered automobiles and gas grills.

I hate you jerry.

Actually, in all seriousness, contact Andy, screen name Cajun, on this board. He and those other guys over in Louisiana have some pretty serious propane setups on their rigs. He could probably answer any questions you might have.

Doesnt it have to be installed/license by a professional to be consider street legal? grant it propane is easier, but isnt EFI half the cost?

While we're on the subject of propane...saw this on the road the other day. Never seen propane on a big rig. Check out the ice on the supply line...

The fuel is cheaper, just harder to find at times. The setup is not too bad if you don't have to cludge and old setup together w/ no instructions (Just ask rowdy or creighton :flipoff3: ) I really like the setup on mine. If you want to look at cost, it could be swayed both ways. You can get a cheap efi system pulled off a jy vehicle and you can get a cheap propane used setup off of pirate also. I like the pane because it is something that is not mainstream and is semi-easy to maintain.

Ok great thanks guys! I'm still kind of weighing my options. My motor smokes like crazy and I'm pretty sure it's the rings, which means rebuild, or find a 1.6L to replace the 1.3L. It's about the same cost to get the wiring harness modified for EFI as it is to go propane, so I guess I'll just keep reading some more stuff and see which one will suit me better.
