william_ace
01-09-2008, 03:36 AM
i made a list tonight

1. Drill out stock pitman arm to 3/4" and install, and attatch steering
2. grind off stock coil buckets
3. install 78/9 coil bucks and drop 3" for more lift (maybe) for body lift removal
4. install f-250 shock mounts
5. order cheap shocks
6. install radius arm bushings
7. install sky mfg flip to correct angle and to give enough lift to take off body lift
8. shorten driveshaft and install
9. install trans crossmember
10. find chevy stub shafts, get ujoints, install with ford long shafts and install with warn premium hubs i have in the garage
11. front driveshaft install
12. set new gears (4.88's or 5.13's) in sterling 10.25 with master install kit
13. extend and box arms
14. new softer coils

ok so basically i have so much **** to do still on it. i suck at life. but im getting better....

oh and i estime that list to cost around.............. $1102

Drive it yet?

william_ace
01-27-2008, 03:36 PM
1. Drill out stock pitman arm to 3/4" and install, and attatch steering done
2. grind off stock coil buckets
3. install 78/9 coil bucks and drop 3" for more lift (maybe) for body lift removal
4. install f-250 shock mounts
5. order cheap shocks
6. install radius arm bushings done
7. install sky mfg flip to correct angle and to give enough lift to take off body lift
8. shorten driveshaft and install
9. install trans crossmember done
10. find chevy stub shafts, get ujoints, install with ford long shafts and install with warn premium hubs i have in the garage done
11. front driveshaft install done
12. set new gears (4.88's or 5.13's) in sterling 10.25 with master install kit
13. extend and box arms
14. new softer coils

everything in bold is what i got done. yesterday i also installed a new sag steering pump from an e150 along with the van pressure hose that goes to the steering box.

i also installed an f350 brake booster and MC and bled the brakes like crazy and tey are still really really soft. so i dont know what to do there

seth- yeah i still need to move the rear axle back 1.5" or so. i'll do that before i get my new driveshaft cut. i drove it around the block, but front wheel drive, and no shocks makes for a terrible ride.

colman- i got a set of 37 12.5 bfg mud terrains on H2 wheels for a damn good deal, so i sold the military tires.

Eckert
01-27-2008, 04:07 PM
damn, should hve showed up for the ride. you keeping the trac bar mount?

william_ace
01-27-2008, 05:32 PM
i think i changed my mind a little for now. think i'll just get a cheap set of shocks and leave the TTB buckets. when i extend the arms and get new coils thats when i'll change the buckets out to the 78/9 style. i also think i need to lift the rear a little more. it sits a little lower than the front. dont know by how much yet, havent measured. gonna order the shocks this week and shorten a drive shaft i have on thursday. more updates to come

DRAGOONRANCH
10-19-2008, 11:00 PM
I take it you don't have a cv on the front of the rear drive shaft? Keeping your pinion turned up like that will really help to keep that driveline out of the rocks.

william_ace
10-19-2008, 11:07 PM
i do have a cv on the front of the rear shaft and i have a serious pinion angle problem that i need to address sooner than later... for now i think i will flip the shim on the bottom of the spring packs around to turn that thing down some

DRAGOONRANCH
10-19-2008, 11:18 PM
why do you say it's a problem? oiling, hitting up top, vibration?

william_ace
10-19-2008, 11:35 PM
cause its going to chew through ujoints and probably vibrate alot

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/681302/fullsize/dsc01697.jpg

DRAGOONRANCH
10-20-2008, 01:29 AM
The vibration issue is why I asked if you had a cv up on the front of the shaft. With the cv, you shouldn't need to worry about everything not being in the same plane. It may be a little high right now, but I wouldn't think it would be too bad. What I would worry about is the pinion getting enough oil at speed.

william_ace
10-20-2008, 01:41 AM
right, thats why i was thinking for now.. i could flip the "stock" shim thats at the bottom of the 6" leaf around and lower it a couple more degrees. i know it wouldnt be perfect but it should make it better

looks good. I'd ditch the dinky prerunner bar thing though. Is it going to Clayton?

that's a good looking truck. I wouldn't reccomend that you take it to Clayton unless you can handle body damage.

Many of the trails there involve tight turns and lots of trees in the way...

thats too bad, i was back within 30 min. ah well, we'll catch up next time. busted my power steering pump on the night run and it took a little longer to get back than i expected.

as for body damage, i have a ton of pin stripes which i dont mind, but body damage is something i'd like to avoid for now.

i might take it to clayton but i think my to do list is too large to get done before then. and i think i am too long too. my uncle has an 89 bronco that is just sittin around that i think i am going to try and buy within the next 9 months to a year. we shall see. . . .
