Great write up of some rookie canucks makin a go of the 1000. Their support team consisted of his Mom and Dad!
cruise the site...check out the blogs where they met up McMililan Racing...sounds like an awesome experience....

It looks like its a mostly stock vehicle other than the engine. I bet the jumps would have been softer with with some bolt-on ish mods like equipe or qt radius arms and coil overs.

Did you read the engine specs?
4.8 with 10:1 compression.


what is a r275 transfercase that the support vehicle had? is that what they call the 1.01:1 lt230?

maybe an ashcroft gear conversion? they work out to 27.5% overdrive...275? I dunno...I don't think they are real knowledgeble of their junk...they just typed in what the PO gave them w/ their bill of sale

Would you do this to the 109 or the classic? I would think if you could track down a gutted 2 door range rover you could end up with a lighter vehicle that wouldn't be that big of a deal to total compared to a 110.

look on the lr section on pirate...there is a pic of a 1988 RR that ran this year in the 1000. that's where I found the 110 link. I'm gonna call the phone number in the pic on the RR. Their website is no worky...must be new, nothing works.
There is no way I would run class 8. the RR is in class 3. Oh, and by the way, I got the 2006-2010 SCORE INTERNATIONAL rule book the other day in the mail.

I wonder if you could sneak a coiler chassis under there and not consider it a suspension mod

I would just reskin the bac half of mine. I have a roof w/o the sunroof. I would wack the back half and taper it down to the tailgate and leave it open for the fuel, tires, etc. like all the other teams do.

I would get a 4.6 block as well...cross bolted mains. I would probaly just carb the thing and run a mallory type ignition w/ a back up. I think 250-300hp would be plenty in class 3 w/ the right gearing. lack of being able to do suspension mods and wheelbase limitations is going to keep the speed down. I think whole shot would be more important w/ a 90 mph top speed wrapped out

you should block off the passenger side cylinders with a 22re head so you could do the 4cylinder class.

try it in paint and tell me how to do it b/c when you use the little draw a shape function and move it it leaves a big white hole
