1st run of the year: TAMOR NORTH REPRESENTS!
I figured I would start a thread for this. I probably won't get there until Sat Morning. I'll leave Fort Worth probably like 5am so I can get there plenty early. We can steal the LR campsite or maybe the old Scout one (now the Yota campsite)
I'll be there w/ the Range Rover in tow.

Fredo

I'd go and camp friday night. If I'm taking the time to setup a tent, I like to at least sleep in it a minimum of two nights. On a related note, Lurch now has 4 tires that hold air. Turns out the driver's side shock poked a small hole in the sidewall on it's exit from it's mount. I'm still working on getting the spare back. I tried using the torch to straighten the wheel but that was a no go. Anybody have a chrome mod 5 on 5.5, 15x8 wheel sitting around that they aren't using? Still have to fix the shock mounts and buy a pair of shocks even though I think the passenger one might have survived.

not really, just a tamor north thing....we'll let you come. I'll be your "sponsor" so they let you in w/o buying a membership. ;)

One of the rims I've got on there right now is a 15x10 that is already my "spare". I need a 15x8 to make the set on the truck again. I really need some new tires.

I'm interested in seat time, as mine was limited in clayton. By limited, I mean I rode on top of scottis buggy, in the back fredo's and cj's, a very short time in the back of the klogger, and a ride out in clayton's.

I would like to work on my photo skilz too, other folks could get in.

Ok, I think I'm gonna break down and put some sliders on the rover! I have had the material for like 4 yrs. I called K Collins and he said he is probably in and was gonna ask Garner if he wanted to go...he has to get a furlough from the Warden first. No wife for me on this trip...camping, pregnant and having to pee every hour don't mix for her. I will probably be bringing the sleep police (just one of them).

bring a tent..we can find a ride for you. I may head out there Friday if everyone shows up like they are saying. Although I have no idea where the Toy camp is. can anyone use it? i talked to Kevin about the Rover camp and he says it sucks if it is dry and windy b/c of the location. I know the toy camp has the fancy new pavillion. I wonder if we can reserve it or something? anyone know how that works? Is it a 1st come 1st served type deal.

robertf03
12-20-2007, 12:12 AM
If Kevin is talking about his SCARR experience he didn't stay in the rover camp, he camped just outside of it. Its in a horseshoe type field with lots of trees surrounding it and blocks the wind pretty nicely and has a pavillion.

No you can't reserve it. OF course you can use it. It is the old NTB camp, in other words when you are on the way to rover camp from the main office you will pass the Quad and Dirt bike playground and it is right across the access road from it.

The only problem with Rover Camp is it is inside those trees and a real pain to get full size rigs in and out.

And yes the "Toy" camp has a fancy new pavilion. Ask me how I know? If you have a generator or an inverter for your truck you can plug into the GFI and run our lights. PLEASE do not use the tile counters for rebuilding parts, that is why we have a spool out there to work on. I will be fixing the sink drain in a couple of months but for now it just drains onto the ground...

I think that is about it. If I am not rebuilding the engine on the 4runner I will come out with you guys.

EDIT: the Toyota Trail Rider Camp is on the map as LBT or "Les Bon Temps" if they finally got the maps updated...

I may still make the Toy run if others are going. He's out. Rodney may be interested. Are "non-Toys" allowed? I doubt I'll make two trips that close together.

This should be a good trip indeed. I think the Scamper will be making an appearance. When I told Whitney that it's only guys and we'll be camping, do you still want to go?... I got <crickets> Well, when you put it like that, I guess not. You're in Seth! :)

I don't know when I'm leaving. Tahoe's transmission is still ****ed, and now I have plugs in the sidewalls of 3 out of 4 tires on Lurch, so driving it out there isn't really a safe option. Got out all of the camping crap from my parents attic

2 burner camping stove, seperate single burner for boiling and such, and a big vertical manifold with 4 hookups (one on top for lantern or single burner, and 3 horizontal side exits). I'm going to bring a big bottle of propane also.

My cooking ware of pots and pans is limited, so if anyone else wants to use this setup please bring pots and pans.

Now that I've got out all of the stuff I'm up for cooking dinner at the campsite, any ideas?

!!!!!!!forgot about this when we showed up...the office guy was trying to check us in and the phone was ringing like crazy. he mutters something about "it must be that fax tryin' to come thru." he goes over to the handset, grabs it, walks over to the fax machine, hits some buttons on the fax machine, then answers the handset, hangs up the handset and then looks at the fax and says with a puzzled sound in his voice, "that fax didn't come thru?" No **** you dumbass, b/c 1) you probably gave them the wrong phone number or 2) you didn't have the fax machine on, and most importantly 3) you hung up on the fawker! what a dip****.

There was a beast of a thread on Pirate a few years ago complaining about the guy and I think some of the TMTC board of directors even posted in it and guess what, he's still there and anybody within 5 hours who wants to go wheeling keeps paying to wheel there.

the problem really is that the TMTC Board of Directors is about as organized as Arkansas Dave there in the office. Grayson, I say we just start going to Clayton, OK whenever we think Gilmer sounds like a good idea. Either that, or stab ourselves in the eye with a sharp stick.

It is still fun wheeling and comfortable camping. You just have to learn how to manipulate lawton and ignore him when he starts talking.

I agree. It's still the closest good wheeling to us, and we just ignore him in general.
