Need an Ignition Key made

I have heard tell of stealerships making keys just off of a vin number. Anybody know of any truth to this? Seth? It is for an 06ish Chevy truck fwiw. It's not out of commision right now, just a pain in the ass when the idiot that has the keys is late everymorning and you are standing in the cold w/ an earache and no way to get in the truck and warm up.....

It can be done. But, even for us at work, it can be a pain, they want to make sure that it is really your truck.. Ask Sharpe.

Ok, so it can be done then. Good, I will see what I can get done w/ my local dealer. They understand my "situation". ;)

EDIT:Do they ask for any particular paperwork?

Supposedly you're supposed to do it in person, with the VIN #, your driver's liscense and a copy of the registration, but I've heard of people just giving VIN's over the phone and picking the keys up.
