I just bought a Vortec 350 from a 98 chevy truck with a 4l80e trans. I am wanting to find a wiring harness to transplant this into a project. Who is a good company for harnesses that will control the trans also while eliminating the emissions BS. I also plan on running a NP 205 behind the 4L80e, will i need to run a vss or is there a easier way than the reluctor wheel in the t-case?

Fuel Injection Specialties in San Antonio used to make a real nice harness. They did the one for my camaro when I did the LT1 swap. The owner who started the company died at the same time my harness was getting made, so it took about twice as long as it was supposed to but I couldn't complain. It turned out great.

You will need a VSS. Check out jagsthatrun.com. They offer a cable driven VSS sensor setup that will do what you want without having to modify the t-case.

There was also a guy in the pbb chevy forums this morning asking about turning his 4l80e into a manual shift.

Lots of BS in there already,

but the jist was to make sure you used a transgo shift kit.

What was the general price for the harness?

**** if I know. My harness was done almost 10 years ago. They've got a phone number, call them.

JTR has nothing that can be made to work like the factory speed sensor set-up. now, if you can figure out why the pcm cares if the case is in hi or low then you might get somewhere but ive been researching the subject for years and have gotten nowhere.

not really a matter of figuring it out. i know what needs to be done, just not why and whether it will make a difference if you dont. i dont even have a VSS on the scout and the side effects are noticeable but not major, but im running a 700r4. i think it will be a problem on the 4l60e. ive got a way to make the jeep setup work just like factory but its labor intensive and if i knew that i didnt need it, i wouldnt do it.
