got in this morning and it will turn over, but not fire. I think it may have something to do with the sucurity lock but I can't remember how to reset it. This thing is not new to electrical problems, the guages tend to be eratic at times, and the speedo was peged out at over 200k last night. Any sugestions?

The speedo was pegged out at 200,000 mph? Awesome!

Damn dirty communist metric system.

Found this in regards to the security lockout, but I'll see what else I can find.

My 99 Tahoe is also having a starting problem. It will try to start but acts like it is not getting fuel. I was told that it was the security system locking me out. A mechanic said to turn the switch on and wait until the security light went out to try to start it.

the security light only comes on while all the lights in the dash cycle when you turn the key on. I had a similar situation w/ the dmax a while back, but I can't remember if the security light was staying on or not. There was a special sequence of pressing lock/unlock buttons, just can't remember what it was. (It's hell gettin old. :D )

You fail and whoever made that idiotic picture fails. It should have read "Massive Truckload of Fail", or even just "Massive Load of Fail". :flipoff2:

Now go finish off that handle and call me sometime next week. ;)

I had to find a place to use that pic. Ill be sure to use proper grammar when going through the "FAIL" process:D

Ed Zachery, there is no need in double failing... :gigem:

make sure that the cables for the VSS are not grounding out, my spedometer jumps erratically and the jeep won't start when the VSS wires ground out

It ended up being the fuel pump. I will check the vss though to see if that is what is causing the speedo freak-out

its not the VSS. its the gauge itself. my '03 does it too. if i had not driven a scout with no speedo for 3 years it might bug me enough to spend the $500 on a new gauge cluster.

the cruise and speed limiter still work. try resetting the ave mph while driving and you'll see that the signal is still good.

yeah, i don't think this one has that option. (no steering wheel controls ;) ) It just gives me an excuse when the MP's stop me for speeding. :D
