wingfield's dad is a landscape architech(builds landscape/irrigation prints) for large commercial jobs and i doubt he dabbles in the small residential stuff that wingding was doing. though im sure he pushed jobs his way...
i do see simularities in all this. i think it has to do with attitude of throwing money around like its no object...
i never said anything about Wingfield, he didn't have an unbounded, pompous ego, just a little too chipper. He was actually likable, just got run off to soon. He didn't try to be a know it all, unlike some previous poster . . . John

thats BS. i definately remember someone posting a writeup just like that in regards to wingfield. it had to be you. you're the only one that gets mad when they see a college aged person mowing yards with a mower nicer than a murray and a truck with a bed bigger than a vw bug passenger floorpan. never mind the fact that they are working, "their parents bought them that mower."

Good thing you've graduated. I paid for **** for my truck using credit cards during the later part of my build and I'm still paying for them now. I think back to the few times I've actually wheeled and how much I spent and realize how much better of a vehicle I could have built had I saved that money and started after graduation.

Yeah that is a little Ghetto in my opinion. he isn't the only one doing the SAS right now, he is one of three that I am watching closely. I like his ideas on the front suspension set up though. At least Chris's FJC has seen some semi-decent trails that would have to make a scratch or two (Snakepit) on a rig with 33's
who cares if it has scratches? Maybe the guy knew exactly what he wanted and took it from the showroom floor to the shop (though the leaf springs and ditching the electronics make me think he made a poor decision)
It's done with Jeeps all the time, theres just so many of them out there that the high rollers get lost in the herd. There was a (hack) shop not too long ago in Dallas called Custom Jeep that took on many showroom fresh projects involving complete drivetrain swaps. When the new Mustang came out Mustang and Fast Fords had an article pretty much one month after release about a guy putting in a 5.0HO.

Yea I like this new idea. Get all the parts ready to go before you tear it apart. I also think the leaf springs on that other guy's one are a waste. Sure he'll get lots of flex but also plenty of axle wrap and other leaf spring problems. What type of springs are used on the front of those? Coil, coilover, or torsion? I really do like the front suspension I used on my jeep, it's alot like a tj long arm conversion. However if I redid the rear it would be a 3 link + panhard, I think.
