Future proof. Once its setup all you'll have to do is pair a new device if the ipad goes missing or breaks. That 16 HVS finds position in less than 2 seconds after power up even when it was on my downtown balcony. The ipod touch and android take a while to synch in the same position and jump around a lot, and the garmin etrex hand held takes a few minutes to synch there also.
Ah for use with multiple tablets. I'm on the fence, it's sub $100 for the elf and probably $200 for your route ( that was a quick price look ). I lean towards the elf due to simplicity and a recommendation from a pilot, but either way it will probably take me a little while to get my set up going.
Any suggestions on iPad truck mounts? I would go with the ram mount but the heavy duty ones get expensive and bulky quick, and I'm afraid the light duty stuff won't hold up.

I bought the cheapest generic mount amazon sold. The suction cup works, the rest of it is so so. A galaxy 7" tablet is too narrow to work without a case, and you have to squeeze it before latching to keep it from rattling. I wish I would have gone with the ram spring x shaped generic clamp.

So rewire the garmin with db9 connector, plug into Bluetooth adapter and the hardware portion is good to go?
Yea, 2 of the pins are power so youll have to split that from the db9. You can get rj45 to db9 adapters from altex for around 4 bucks.
So after the last 4 days of my AC kicking ass it has completely given up.... I'm guessing a total overhaul is due but I think I will try to vacuum out the lines and fill with new coolant first.
****ing apple, I swear I was just about to jump on the bandwagon and their ****ing dumb ass, limp wristed, **** packing software designers decided to not send power to the only ****ing connection on the iPad with their new iOS. I now have a card reader and USB adapter that can only read 8 letter long files in a non power needing dcim folder. ****.
In other news, amazons has on sale the contour roam camera for $100. 60 fps @ 720p with a real world 3-4 hour battery life. Srsly it like blows the gopros out of the water, k bye.
So android? I went to best buy tonight to play with the android mini tablets. I didn't really like any of them except for the samsung 8" note or whatever but it didn't have much storage. I have never liked apple stuff
Well, I bought my mom a ****ing $700 60- whatever gig ipad for Christmas. After trying to teach her to use it for 6 months I decided to get one for my self. It seriously kicks the androids ****s ass, until you get to some of the queer iPads ****. With jail breaking, or whatever the **** they call it, you can still do all the kick ass **** plus more, but you do lose the stupid friendly user billy that apple pride itself for.
I'm on the fence wether apple is the way to go but, PC tablets are definitely better than then stand alone GPS's or laptops or desk tops, unless you are still using inventor to design your pos roll-cages that you will never make anyways.
So if you are building cages in inventor, stand alone GPS units are better? Maybe I should just sell my ****, then I wouldn't have to wrench on my rig.Quote:

The beach turned pretty bad yesterday evening (someone was at the entrance turning 2wd vehicles around, which I've never seen) and the e fans couldn't keep up. I never had to stop and let it cool but did reach about 215 on the temp. Honestly I'm not sure if the mechanical would have been much better so I still want to make the e-fans work, however I'm not sure on how they can be improved.

Those fans were supposed to pull comparable CFM to the stock fan right? When was the last time you cleaned your radiator? With all the wheeling and sand it may be a little blocked up from dust. Try blowing it out with air and see if much dust comes out.

So I put the thermoprobe-dill on for the variable control and it now stays on after you turn the key off... What a ****ing bummer, but I'll look into when its not raining. Also the radiators could definitely use a cleaning.

Can you not put the power to the fans on a relay controlled with the key? What controller are they using now and does the thermocouple just slide into the radiator ribs?
The relay wire is powered only with the key... I'll have to investigate more later. And yes, I put it close to where the hot water dumps into the radiator.Quote:

Going to replace my chrome peeled spray bombed grill, and hopefully fix the ac soon. I never drive it anymore so I'm thinking if I can ever find another workshop stage 3 may be coming up.
