Amc 360
small block chevy. 50's chevy truck
nope, exhaust manifolds are wrong for the amc and the 350
Does it have a hemi?
I am going to say Buick 300
It ran, then it didn't. Something bound. ARB install got bumped up on the to do list.
no.
center diff was unlocked. it bound up and was pulling to the right. It moved when the front right drive flange was removed. So its pinion, spider gears, or bound front ujoints on the driveshaft. I'll see if its still bound tonight and then remove the front driveshaft and try again before pulling the diff out.
well its not the driveshaft or pinion. CV shaft doesn't want to spin. I'm hoping it just sheared off the ABS sensor and it isn't something more serious.
so the kit's suggested clearance on the spindle didn't work out. It resulted in a pile of expensive welded together ****. At least the guy who does the kit is working with me on this.
After some thinking and staring at the wall, round 2 will be machined to FlemCo specifications.

that sucks, I hope he takes care of you. Pictures?
there isnt much to see. looks like a cv stuck in a spindle. There is a small visible HAZ near the step on the spindle where the bearing surface starts. I crapped myself while trying to press it out. Its in there good and deformed the OD of the spindle. I had to use a 2 jaw puller to remove the wheel hub.
Sucks!!!!!!!
Interesting. Guess thats a good thing that it wasnt the diff! Check the other side for heat discoloration yet?
no.t yet the rear seemed fine but its getting redone too. the kit used to do longfields and now uses rcvs, I'm thinking that change combined with a clearance size that may have been selected through the "hasn't failed yet" approach is to blame.
5 thousandths?! Come on Flem, who's machining this stuff ;)
Automotive Machine & Supply in the town of the cow, not me ;)
Started on ARBs
tried to install the trail gear pinion spacer today, it doesn't fit.
Installed new diff bearings from Rock Auto on the ARB, went to install it in the carrier and found the OD was way too small. They have the wrong part number in their catalog
There sure are a lot of crappy vendors out there, this weekend has been a waste.
That really sucks when you buy something new and it does not work
Seems to be happening alot lately. No company in particular, just overall everything sucks.
ripped out the ABS and re plumbed the truck according to the dirty 3rd world section of the land rover service manual, mounted the compressor where the ABS junk used to sit, wired it all up and installed a bunch of cruise control switches.

rear locker installed and leak free

Sweet! Looks good Flem. I like the Cruise Control switches as the locker switches. If you have the ARB switches left over, let me know how much you want for them.
free 99. I'll hide them somewhere in the shop next time I'm over
Wait....did ARB do away with the cool switches?
no, they are incuded. I just woudl rather have factory stuff.
What exactly is the end goal of all this?
he doesn't have a girlfriend so he has to do something with his time..... no bed bath and beyond for him this saturday
