**** that I dont have kind of spacers on my front springs. Do your shims have flats machined into them for the bold head to sit on? Mine didnt and when I took them apart to install my add-a-leafs the grade 8 3/8" bolts I had in there had bent severely. I used a grinder and added a flat surface myself. Ghetto? Deffinately, but it works.

If you can put it in a drill press would be even better.
is the hole in the spring plate big enough to encompass the washer? If not, I would be inclined to think that this might put a bit of unneeded stress in there or atleast give the springs some wiggle room they don't need. Take a pic of before and after if you get a chance.
If you need a set of leaves with retainers I will see what I have. On pigpen, I ditched a few of the shorter leafs but kept the leaf that has the retainers on it and ditched a few of the leafs that are longer than the retainer. Make sense? If you want to know more, come get me tomorow night...I'm off east 30 near loop 12...
mesquite?
Should be close to the 20/80 split. It's the other side of Fair park, that's all you really need to know. It's about 30 min away for me if yall do anything.

that puts you about 15 min away from me btw. close to the junkyards and some old wheelin spots, all kinds of good stuff down there.

I haven't broken one since I switched. I also added the antiwrap bars which I think helped, but you already have those.
probably will be what i put back in the springs.Quote:

Yep. And tighten that crap out of your Ubolts. You should be set after that. I'm curious to see how it works out.
got new steel shims off ebay. i was surprised that they were "spotfaced" for the bolt head already. went to mack and got some hardened allen socket head bolts for the springs. supposedly they are stronger than grade 8 bolts.
this is what i came up with for keeping the springs aligned. just kind of copyed the retainers on the main leaf
that's a great idea, are they all one piece and bolted into the spring pack?
yea, the retainers are 5x3" .25 square tube with one side cut so its all one piece. it isnt bolted to the pack but its sandwiched in there pretty good between the clamps themselves and the u bolts
The only thing I might wory about would if it would end up rattling, but if it is tight enough it looks like it will work fine.
driver side was the same way. guess the first time the leaves spun it broke the center bolt. explains why i had to beat the add a leaves back in several times friday evening.
i need to do the u bolt flip on the driver side too
just wanted to post some recent pictures
Looking good Cook.
ah yeah, that thing looks pretty good.
truck is looking sweet cook, what's next in line for it?
wow, in that one picture your rig makes pigpen look like a cobbled together pile of poo!
:flipoff2: sharpe
this is why i shat a driveshaft at 47 on saturday. pretty weak
Dangling brake line fitting?
See the peanut.....dead giveaway.
...
That's what she said.
Found a new grill for you at pick-a-part today!:gigem:
pimpadelic for sure.
not the cast iron orb things, the whole insert
i showed him that a while ago
dig the boat siding and the cab exo except for the top windshield bar. everything in front of the cab looks gay, especially the hood.
i may backhalf it one day when i get tired of wheeling it like it is.
after finals, im going to make a new rear driveshaft and some protection for it. ryan had an idea i liked for a hinged skid plate. i decided that the sleeving i did to the old one is way too ghetto and its just going to get ****ed up again.
I like that but don't like the shortened hood either.
it may look kinda weird but it seems very functional.
it just needs more tubing up front, seems unfinished to me
any more pics of that? I think it looks pretty sweet.
I agree the hood looks goofy, but like Ed said it looks unfinished.
