fzj80 axles look like the way to go. That reluctor looks easily removed.
Are longfields compatabile with ABS?
think that will hold up to 37's and that much weight?
I am looking at about 5K lbs right now for my truck w/winch and bumper and sliders (and maybe more with the addition of some kind of roll protection)
ok if i go d60 what models would put the pumpkin on the drivers side and how would it compare to my toyota rear axle?
Check out the Dana 60 bible on pirate.
I don't know what it has in the rear, but it's weaker than a 60 and narrower I'd imagine. You'd want to swap a 60 or 14 bolt in the rear if nothing else just to match up bolt patterns easier. 37's would be on the smallish size I would think after stepping up to 1 tons though, imo. I would think the drivetrain wouldn't hold up to this, but I could be wrong.

this sounds interesting and is going to be expensive
I asked sunray how much for a rear 4 link for the jeep and they quoted me around $6500. Just keep that in mind,
i wish I had the money that you did
ford model 60's will put it on the driver side. Also you dont havew to have a 60 with 8 lugs, you could leave the toy rear and get the front rotor/hub assembly to match your six bolt pattern just like scott did on lynda's jeep 60. I personally dont like full exo cages, especially on suv's, but it is the only way besides parking it at the trail to reduce body damage. Plus even with the exo the body is still gonna get fug'd up.

Ok so ford 60's are on the drivers side...cool.
I have beendoing some research and saw some Diamond axle housings, are these things worth the money?
Man I am looking at all kinds of crap...
ANd you know the old addage keep it simple stupid? I think I am going to keep it simple with the suspension. I like the idea of a three link with coil-overs... input?
I am running the FJ 80 axle and 37's. The steering set-up is a little hard to find if you don't want to do custom knuckles but it has searved me well. My rig weigh's 3600# and I have only broken one stock inner shaft in the past ~ 4 years. I started out with Bobby's first pass on the FJ Birfields and have since switched to the 300M ones since they started popping. I also have chrmo inner shafts now too...
Build the FJ axle - it's fine for 37's and you will NEVER get into the trails / binds that I run with a full body so it will be fine.
yes, worth the money. I have a Ford D60 on the new Jeep, my next axle will start from a Diamond housing.Quote:

Rack and pinion didn't come until the 2004 body change.Quote:
