I bet that is it. Thanks
I finally finished the rear body Mounts I started 10 months ago. Doesn't flap around when I hit bumps. Not using the battery tender for the last 6 months hasn't been good on my old red top. Guess I need to get a new one Monday. I still need to rebuild the hydro ram mount. I think I am going to just scab a brace on it because I don't have the time to build it the right way now. Jeep still requires a small squirt of starter fluid to start. That is going to be crappy if I stall. Trip isn't going to be pretty but she should make it.
Well the jeep battery keeps draining so I decided to get the battery tested. I left it on the battery tender for a few days and it tested fine. I took my spare red top that is dead and it was not. It was old as balls so I just bought a new one. I ran the jeep for a few hours and checked the new one. Although it still has plenty of juice it is lower. Guess it is time to pull the alternator.
Alternator is fine. However how I thought before the computer is shot. It isn't telling the alternator to charge the battery or also explains why the cold start doesn't work. Dodge has a back order on it so I guess I have to find one aftermarket or junk yard. I have three part numbers what will work in my truck for it. Anyone know of a good place to order one of these on the fast?
parts stores. We can order tons of computers at advance.
Advance has 2 different computers listed so you'll have to get the OEM part number off the one you have in the jeep. Either one is 279.99 plus tax. Cardone part numbers 79-4433V and 79-4477V.
I ordered one. Hopefully it will be in soon. They couldn't tell me a date because they have to call and are not open today.
Computer came in today. It took all of 5 min to install. Jeep runs fantastic now. When I pulled the old one off I could see exactly where the problem was. One of the posts was fried and stuck in the plug side. Only odd thing about this computer is that it is painted gold. Weird but it works
That's a reman thing, the gold paint, I had one like that too on a Ferd.
They don't do that on tbi computers...which makes factory ones really easy to warranty:D
So, did you do the thing where you unhook the battery before welding every time? I still maintain that it makes no difference and that you should really unplug the computer if you're concerned about it.
It happened when a hydroloc hose blew up and sprayed the whole engine about a year ago
Tonight I cut off the under built hydroloc ram mount and started to build a beefed up version like I should have in the first place. I also dropped it lower and eliminated the ghetto stacked washers I had in there. I stopped at 11pm because the welder and chop saw are too loud. All I really have left is to make some mounting tabs and weld them to the new mount and bolt it back together. Starting to get motivated with the trip less than a week away now.
Good deal, Im excited to see the jeep
Jeep is all done and back together. Mount is much better. Geometry even ended up nice on the ram. All I really need to do now is install the car seat. And load up. I am bringing lots of spare parts for my brother's jeep. I don't really have any spares for mine anymore.
I ordered some FOX 2.5 14" travel shocks, brackets and links to convert 3-link front to 4-link. Hopefully they will be here early in the week. The new shocks will make the jeep a little taller than before to help from bottoming the frame out on the steering. New rims and tires have been ordered also. They are several weeks out though. I still need to order some small things but looking forward to the changes.
How much do you want for the wrecked air shocks?
I was thinking about rebuilding them and putting them in the back. They shouldn't be too pricy to fix
no they shouldn't
I fixed the hydro hoses that got cut and filled it back up. I still have to strong arm it as if it isn't even power steering. You think it is the pump? It started acting up on that early obsticle where I debeaded several tires long before I killed the hoses. Thoughts?
yep sounds like your pump is toast not surprising if it got run for a long time without any fluid. also make sure you get all of the air out of the system, pick the front end off of the ground and turn make and forth with the motor off
It started acting up before I blew the hoses. But I did romp on it a lot after to get it back on the trailer.
I just picked up my packages that got sent to my rent house in San Antonio instead of my Victoria house. Damn the Fox 2.5 are beaf compared to my old 2.0. All the brackets and Johnny joints were in there but the damn tubing didn't show up. Guess I have to call Monday and see why it wasn't shipped. My tires are on back order also so no Clayton trip I guess.
The new air shocks and link material have all showed up. My tires will be here today and wheels next Monday. I guess it is time to finally pull it off the trailer from the last trip and get to work.
Tires finally made it today. Wow way badass. I have never seen a set in person so I was nervous. Happy with my purchase. Facebook friends link a pic for a non computer having fool.
Trail ready beadlocks made it. :). Time to get to work.
Quit posting and get to wrenchin!!!!
Wife and son will be out of town next week so I'll have some time after work.
a little progress
sorry they are sideways bigger air shocks, new 3 link mount (better geometry), Pitbulls W/ trail ready beadlocks, 37s vs 42s
Couple pics from side and wide from rear. Still need to gas up front shocks and get taller springs in back. damn thing is big
I thought it was more of an execution issue than a geometry issue......
Did you actually use proper technique when welding on your top mount this time? Or are you still just hoping it holds? And I thought you were going 4 link?
Looks Damn good Tate!
Was geometry turns out. Mount is no longer welded to cast. More lift allowed me to put it where it needed to go. I just flat didnt have space for the 4 link so I fixed the 3link.
