dropped engine in last night!
Time for the body.
Looking good! When do you think it will be done?
I am hoping to get it done over Christmas, but I plan on having it ready March of next year.
I have a couple of questions... but first... NICE JOHNNY JOINTS>>> those things are badass...
aren't you trying to save weight here? why did you opt for square tubing if you've bought a badass bender? tube it 'mano!!!!
Also... you're going to keep yota axles? I thought this thing was going to be another big heavy rig, not a cool little buggy...
I am going lightweight.
I have upgraded the Toy axles to a Landcruiser HP front and a V6 rear. The front axle is 63" wide and the rear is 61"
Wheelbase is 106"
From what I see in Competition, the guys with 38"+ tires NEVER win. I think that 37" tires took at least the first three spots on the score sheet.
I made a frame instead of going tubular because I like the ease of having a frame for building a truck and real bumpers. I like to yank etc... I need a real frame. Also, the frame is sealed and will be used as my air tank meaning that I will not need a seperate tank.
The body will be minimal, I will not even do the body work on the doors, and I will build some tubular ones with a sheet metal skin. I just want to get the look of the Patrol out of it when I get through.
It will have an exo-cage, but it will be built into the body. ie: the sheet metal will be welded to the cage. (so far I think)
Any more progress on the Toy-Schubring Patrol?
Who needs torque from the motor when you have a 200:1 crawl ratio?!? I'd stay light weight since you already have the marlins. Good call.
I am working on mounting the body.
I want a minimum of sheet metal but still want the look of the patrol. I am trying to figure out a way to mount the rear part of the body to the cage and building the cage first. Everything is coming together all at once and it is making it very hard.
Can't mount the body until I get the height right, can't get the height right with out weight, can't cut the fenders/ make integrated rockerpanels/ cage without expected ride height, etc... etc... It is just sitting too high right now and I am not sure if it will settle out and where it would if it did.
end of ramble
camera broke,
body is mounted, it sat too high, reworking suspension to drop is down a little.
will get a new pic up as soon as I can
