Ok been a while since I updated the thread. I have a big event coming up in two weeks and I decided it was time to make some upgrades to the Taco Bueno. since I am still getting used to how she wheels I decided not to do any wheeling upgrades but rather spend a couple of hundred bucks and replace the 1996 Tape Deck/AM/FM Wonderfulness.
-Pioneer Deck with CD player and USB cord for Ipod Control
-JL Audio 8" w3 Sub
-Pioneer 2 way door speakers
-Phoenix Gold 300x4 Amp to power it all
Pretty conservative system but it should be plenty to bump the Nuge down the trails.
Also got a couple of Tractor Lights that I am going to be using as back up lights in the rear. have to wire those up.
finally I traded a Clarke 220V Welder and cart for an ARB air locker and compressor for the front so I will be installing that in the next month or two.
Pics of it currently... to document progress. Will post pics of new stereo after tonight or tomorrow.

cute. needs dents. What are those stickers on your ds window?
It's a thing in our club, a bullet style sticker for every run you go on.
oh, that is cute :flipoff2:
I have those on my truck too, but instead of stickers it's dents and then I just write with sharpie in the dent what run it came from.
sharpie on a black truck, eh? No wonder I've never noticed them :flipoff2:
I like my trucks to stay pretty :flipoff2:
Hey I have only gotten to wheel it once so far! This winter has been busy, I just hope she doesn't get as ugly as the FJ Cruiser was before I did the body work.
Why bother with an off-road rig if you're skeered to scratch the paint? I'd get a corvette or something you can rub down with a diaper. It's a silver sharpie, ass.
Who said i was skeered to scratch the paint? I have already put a dent in the drivers door my first trip, leaned her into a tree, and there are scratches up and down it, that is the good thing about light colored paint. :) I just like for it to look perdy.:gigem:
All those stickers for one run?
What is it like JROTC, they give you a sticker for pulling on and off the trailer, turning on the headlights, and not popping a boner?
Yeah...me too. That's why Lurch is always so beau-ti-ful.
I am trying to understand why this always happens and it totally escapes me. At least it's funny!
Why what happens?
why anything chris posts gets sh1t on. spectacularly.
A few...heck, the truck has already rolled twice. It stays pretty becuase it has steel body armour and so it doesn't dent :gigem:
All I know is that my dad gave me bullet holes as a stocking stuffer in 1999 for my Jeep and Scott told me that was the gayest thing ever. So I never put them on and still have them stashed in a filing cabnet. I'll send them your way :D
I do like the yota though
:flipoff2:
I could probably find you one of those too :)
That Taco is pretty sweet looking, I bet it wheels great too.
I'm still a Toyota purist up to a point - like I'm tired of fixing the Toyota 8" in the Patrol, time to spend some money on something different...
Cool stuff, too bad there's no way I can get the Patrol finished for the next (Toyota) trip. - And I hate Gilmer...
No not one run, it was a truck within our club before I bought it, so it has all the runs it has been on. Unfortunately I didn't religiously participate in the sticker tradition on the FJC and have a lot of them on my toolbox but I think it is cool.
Ah it's no big deal.
so no sticker for not popping a boner, what a gay club!
it's ifs, bringi to tclayton or katemcy,. if you donot agree, se the drun postin thread. i podsted without editing, I'vr never been this hammered, happy new years!!! I'm just sayingit can't hang with as $700 scout,. but past that I',m hammered so whatever.
your ifs **** sucks, thats hammered speak too
I represent that comment. Actually, I don't. i had a pretty subdued new years. I figured 2008 sucked so bad, that I would take it easy in hopes that 2009 does the same for me. Time will tell I guess. All I know is I just got home and I can hear Jimmy sawing some logs from the kitchen, much less the rest of the house.
Old pictures? Or do you still have the 4runner?
Nope don't have the Runner still, I just took those pics the day I sold the 4runner. Haven't changed the outer appearance since.
Thanks Jimmy for the pep talk on IFS.
Worked all day on a stupid stereo install. Kept getting a whole bunch of alternator whine. Disassembled the whole install about 6 times before I finally realized that the antenna was causing some kind of grounding loop thing. what a ****ing pain in the ass.
Sorry Chris, I haven't been that hammered since college, good times.

Went wheeling this weekend and had a blast, took the Taco up the Exit to Sierra Skyview in Fred and Lurch's defense and made it up without any body damage. Good times indeed. Will be updating this thread with pics of this thing actually wheeling. :D
I like the Land Cruiser 4WD emblem...
Chris, can you get me a pic or two of the tube bed from directly behind the truck and a quartering away angle from each side? I'm planning on stealing a few ideas for Pigpen's bed.
I'll try to snap some in the next couple of days but I think I can get a couple of them now...

Made the trip to K-Rocks this past weekend for the Lone Star Land Cruiser Roundup. I busted a CV inside of my Hub trying to go up Waterfall. Limped it back to camp and changed the CV and Hub and now my damn truck won't steer while the hubs are locked. Anybody got any ideas. I am going to figure out tomorrow night wether it is just the hub i replaced or both. May reinstall the CV just to make sure everything got seated right in the spindle.
