a little too good - it needs some limiting straps and bumpstops. When I get pics up, you will see from the body "self clearencing" that it flexes pretty wellQuote:

Scott, quit yapping and get the photos online. :) I'm glad you stopped by last night. It was nice to see in person. Very cool!
Here's one for you Doug. It came across on our dorm's mailing list.
***...I had to look twice...at first glance I thought that was Beth... Lynda's roomate...
I am still laughing... It's better when there is a story to go with the picture. I have several from hawaii.

Or, if you would prefer, David-o was nice enough to throw them over on offroadrepublic so that they could be viewed through thumbnails.

So when the fawk are we going back??? I miss this ****, I really need to start working on building something, but now we've bought a house :confused2
Reading old threads like this make me motivated!
Piss on the new house! Put a second mortgage on it and build something.
oh i will be ready definately by next year, just let me know, or everyone crash at my place and we run the rubicon.......hmmmmmm.....that could be a new tamor trip
and yes that was one bada$$ trip, definately put a dent in the pocket and on the quarter panel, see jordan, thats where they came from. :gigem:
doug didnt you do something stupid on the way up there? Take you like 16 hours for an 8 hour trip?
Try more like 20ish hours for a 12-13 hour trip. The extra time was spent in this order:Quote:

total 8.5 hours
the main problem with the blazer wasn't actually due to anything i had done in the previous month. The damn fuel pump was breaking of impellers and clogging the fuel filter. So we really didn't have to drop the tank in fort stockton, just replace the fuel filter. Although, I didn't learn that the pump was spitting impellers out until i had to drop the tank again when working at my brothers in-laws ranch in Ft. Stocton a couple days later...
It tell you what, this year we'll put it behind the new truck and haul ass :gigem:
awww **** don't tempt me!!!
Kinda hard to put a second mortgage on the house when we have no equity in it! Maybe we could get a second mortage on the down payment? :laughing:Quote:

Come on, houses aren't that much money, hell, I didn't pay anything for mine. Thats where rich fiancee's come in :flipoff2: She did get a little pissed though when I started making up a list of all the cool **** I could of bought, if I had saved the money I put on her ring and spent it on the buggy instead :DQuote:

Run some junkyard leafs for suspension, slap on a propane system (ask on lonestar4x4 for how to put one together cheap) and go.
we just got back from this years trip...
Time more than anything at this point keeping me from building it. I've got a decent amount of work I want to do to the house first. It takes priority over everything other than school.Quote:

all the tubing I could ever possibly need

rear axle (14 bolt)
tires/rims (will be H2's beadlocked most likely with a used suitable tire)
suspension (either regular coils or an air shock with some kinda link suspension front and rear)
Driveshafts (probably make my own)
Full hydro system
Other nickel and dime stuff that adds up:
seats, radiator, brakes, fuel cell, etc...
Oh well, I'll probably design most of it this semester. I'm taking a solidworks class and maybe we'll have a big project that I can kill 2 birds with one stone by designing it in there.
are you taking ENDG 407?
here is one i drew in solidworks
http://www.texasoffroad.net/albums/l...WorksBuggy.jpg
just so you know, it is gonna be hard to draw a tube buggy and turn it in for a project. now you may be able to do a suspension system. Thats what i did. i drew the rockwells, links, hiems, and frame. also solidworks sucks for anything even slightly complicated...
is that the new plans for the cj?
no....something more along the lines of this...

not that color green though...
someone has a little time on their hands...
hmmm....and thats not the only buggy ive drawn either... :gigem:
Thats the class I'm taking steven. I have no idea what the projects are in the class, but i figured if i had to draw something, it would be the buggy.Quote:

I'm guessing you have a better program than solidworks to model in since you said it would be hard to do it in solidworks? What are you using to do the tubing? Sweeping a circle around lines and curves?
What program is that with the green buggy steven?
Two reasons I'll be using solidworks is I'll learn it next semester better than I do now and that I have it at home and work. Although, I only have 2001 at home which kinda sucks, but better than nothing. Also, it annoys me that the files are not backwards compatable.
the first picture was done in solidworks 2004(i think maybe 2005 maybe 2003). it can be done but you need to be damn good at solidworks to do it. the second one was done in Catia V5R14 made by desault systems, the same people who make solidworks. however it is WAY more powerful then solidworks, probably the most powerful solid modeler on the market. keep in mind that the more powerful a solid modeler is the less user friendly it is. i have also drawn buggies in ProENGINEER, another very powerful modeler. solidworks is along the same lines as autodesk inventor. both are good for simple things and terrible for complicated things. catia and ProE are the exact opposite.
as for 407, your first project will be done in AutoCAD. it is a pulley assembly and pretty easy. the second project is openended. as i said before i drew a frame, axles, tires, links, hiems, threaded inserts, and coil springs. i will see if i can find a picture of them. i was originally gonna make it a 4-link but due to the fact that the computers are not top of the line, i could only make it a 2-link. i think i got a 129 out of 100 on that project. also make sure you tun in all your drawings one class early, you will get 10 bonus points for doing so and they are relatively easy. i think i had to make a 34 on the final to get an 'A' and if i didn't take the test i had a high 'B'
