Seems like a little too much front fender to me... you gonna be trimming that for clearance or you letting the beefy 37's do it for you?
BTW... how is the rest of your cage planned?
What are the specs on those massive toy axles? What did you do about birfs? GOnna run an eliminator with CTM's?
the cruiser Birfields will be send of for Cyro-treating (Longfields) and I will probably have custom chrom-moly axle shafts made for the front. I don't plan on having alot of up-travel, but I will trim if needed.
As for the cage - we will see. I already bent the back hoop above the seats and will run bars on the outside of the body along the upper body line. I should have it close to done by the end of the week.

I say Cromo Shafts... birfield eliminator and CTM's... but that's cool if you want all us conventiaonal folks driving around your disabled truggy :flipoff2:

The Longfields - like CTM's have a lifetime warrenty. Neither of them will EVER be the weak link, even with the stock 32 spline shafts swapped for custom chrom-molly shafts

long time - NO steering, seats, gauges, driveshafts, firewall, floor, door hinges - latches, gas pedal, clutch pedal, brake pedal, no mounting location for clutch master, brake master - the list goes on and on.
not to mention the body work...

That front end is pretty big... may just be the angle of the pics, but did you consider narrowing the PAtrol front? It's looking good...especially the back... cage is looking good too... I am going to do a stinger like that soon too... but my support bars are going to run through the grill somewher and tie in as shock mount/ engine crossmember thing... Later, later...
Looks good man. What is the color of the body going to be? Well at least what it is going to be until the first time you roll it. You know since you could be the only person who has rolled more times than me!

As for the front - The tires stick out a good 6" on either side fron the body, and I am using the cage as a rock slider to keep it off the body. The front end is actually 3 or 4 inches narrower that the middle of the truck - it tapers in. I am not worrierd about hitting the body...
it's looking pretty forkin' badass then...just wondering about that...

Busa came down and did my front bumper for me, I finished the cage less extra bracing, shock hoops, and spare tire carrier.
Lengthened the frame 2" to allow the rear part of the cage to look better and let the exo-cage bars connect easily. The body mounts to the cage where the tailgate is.
I cut out all of the rear sheetmetal and built a new frame to attach new metal to, should get to that this week.
Ordered gauges, wire harness, and alloy front shafts
kwality sheet metal work done on rear fenders.

did you use any sheet metal specific tools for that,like a hole punch or nibbler? Some sheet metal work is on the list of things to do for me.
man, at first glance of that rear quarter/corner i thought that was a land rover. :eek:
He might be using the plasma cutter they have.
I used the plasma cutter, jigsaw, and tinsnips for cutting the sheetmetal and some spare angle, pliers, lots of clamps, and a hammer to bend the edges.
Took off work today...

I took off tomorrow also, plan on making a firewall, mounting the clutch master, brake master, and peddles. I will also pull my axle shafts and send them off for treatment.

You and Dave need to get your stuff done so we can have a battle of the imports (although we decided Dave's is pretty much a one ton suburban).
BTW: I want to see a picture with the big tires on it not just the spares.

didn't quite get the brake and clutch master mounted today but I only need about 2 more hours and it will be done. It has a new firewall now - huge task

If you haven't ordered the head light switch from Centech, you might want to do that now. I'm also searching for a wiper switch that will be a pull type (to match the head light switch), let me know if you have any leads/ideas on that. I don't want to use the GM style slide switch because I don't have a good spot to put it. Let me know if you want to get together on the headlight switch ordering and split the shipping. Maybe on the wiper one also.

Dave why not use a CJ headlight and wiper switch. I think the kit is designed for them, either that or they are so generic they bolt right up.

I think Scott's secret is having a shop. Most of us can't get away with cutting and grinding past 8pm. Seems just as I get my groove on its time to shut down and bring it all in before the neighbors call the cops.
Where's the best place to get one? I think a shop helps for space, but we were up until midnight several nights. I think for me it's mostly time. I don't have time to take off right now and Scott doesn't have the burden of 20 bitchy tenants....... not that I'm complaining. I'll get done soon enough. :D

The headlight connecter is GM as is the turn signal, hi-beam, and starter conecters. Dave and I spent several hours hunting down the exact one so we could get things set up. But the Ho-Reilly's switch didn't have a knob or a retaining nut.
The wiper is a much more simple affair. Dave just wants a switch to match the headlight switch.
