If he is going to run a aftermarket bolt-on front for a stock chassis(a-arms drop spindles) get the front wheels after that is done. You also need to know what front brakes you want also as this can change the wms\wmsQuote:

I may also need to trim the inner lip on the front fender. I can't think of what else I would want/need to do. I want it low, but it doesn't have to sit on the frame rails. I like the idea of the air ride adjustable.
it is very tough to mini-tub a convertable (almost impossible to full size tub and keep the top) , because usually alot of the top mechanism is attached to the wheelwell. barely anybody work's on the wheelwells on a vert, that's why I think it would be really kick arse(but difficult) to stuff extra fat meats on the back.

64-72 GM "A" Body FRONT
Includes ShockWave tubular upper and lower control arms w/cross shafts, bushings, ball joints, ShockWaves and all necessary fasteners and mounting bracketry SKW1018-LUCA $1,449.00 1- kit (Do I need 1 or 2 "kits"?)
Rear:
68-72 Includes [2]tubular upper arms, [2]lower control arms, airsprings, shocks, and all necessary fasteners and mounting bracketry ARR20801-LUCA $749.00
http://airride.com/productinfo/shockwave.asp
64-72 GM "A" body (Chevelle, etc.) includes our tubular lower control arm
SKW1018-LCA $1,049.00
SKW1018DA-LCA $1,319.00
So from what I gather, I can just replace some of my front end bushings with poly and then buy the air ride kits for the front and rear, with the arms, etc. Then there's no need for any Hotchkis stuff (maybe sway bars). On the air ride, I need a front kit, a rear kit, and a controller of some kind. Anything else?
i like this one:

Thanks, but the title to the thread is wrong. I corrected it in my post, but it didn't correct the overall thread. Mine is actually a 1971, so it won't work unfortunately.

Both got put behind properties. Several new ones this year. After closing costs, down payment, tile, and paint, the other projects got knocked back several months. I'm hoping to work on the bus over the next two months. The Cutlass is probably back to mid-late summer since the Cruiser will be between sometime. Anyone want to rent a house? :)

What do you mean verdict? Matt's a great guy. Super busy body. He should take it to the next level. It will be fun to watch.
Many of the "cuttys" as they're refered look like something out of a rap video, but I just bookmark non, stock ones.

Intro wheels (18x7 and 20x10), and Continental tires, with 225/40R18s up front and 275/35R20s out back.
http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104251
- 20x10's with 5.5"-6" backspace will fit your 71 easily. Minitubbing is not necessary. Just watch the tire diameter as anything over 31" is asking for problems. A 295/40/20 tire should work fine.
- I ran 20x10's with 275/35/20's and then switched to 295/40/20 on the rear of my former 68 El Camino. Lots of room left.
- Get the 18x8's with 4.5" backspacing and the 20x9.5's with 5.5" & they will fit a 66-72 like a glove.
- I have 20" x 8" on my 67. I have 255/35/20 tires. I wish I would have went with 40 series instead.
- I recently purchased 18 x 8.5 front and 20 x 8.5 rear wheels for my 70 chevelle. What would be a good tire size? No rubberband looking stuff, but not too heavy either? I have 295/45 18 and 245/45/17's on my GTO. I don't like the rubber bands either. You could use 245 or 255/40 on the front and Go with something 255/40 or so on the rear. Stay with something 28" tall on back and it will look bad arse.
- 4.75" backspace would be fine. 255's would work at all four corners.
However,I wouldn't run 20's on the front. 18's or 19's would be my choice with a 275/295 combo.
Just my opinion,though.
- 20x10's with 5.5"-6" backspace will easily fit a 68-72. For tires,you could run either a 275/35/20 or 295/40/20's. A 19x8 or 18x9 front wheel w/255 or 275 tire would be a nice contrast.
- I would say this would fit,99% sure.Rear wheels 20x10 4.5 or 5.5 BS,295/40/20 tires.Front wheel 18x8 5" BS,245/40/18 tires.Maybe somebody will chime In to verify this combo.Hope this helps. 20x10's with 5.5" backspace will easily fit a 68-72 with stock-width rear. 4.5" backspace isn't enough for that width.
That front combo would work.
- 19" Front with 245/35/19 Extreme ZR Rated 20" Rear with 275/35/20 Extreme ZR Rated
- 72 Chevelle Small block 1/2 coil trim off the sagging front coils Original rear coils sagging Front disc/rear drum 20x8.5 front and rear 5 1/4 backspace Front tires are 235/35-20 Rear tires 265/35-20 No rubbingNo trimming No problems and still rides great
The teal/silver Malibu is fly. I wouldn't be considering anything smaller than twinkies...
I'm leaning towards: 20x10s & 19x8s
me too, build a Nova instead?!
Holy hell, what's not to like?
...other than the obscene amount of work and cost in it, of course.
guy built in his own garage, pretty crazy.
The paintjob leaves a bit to be desired. Other than that, bad ****ing ass!
what is that - an early 60s nova? the monitors in the shop leave somethign to be desired...
67
cage is pretty fugly though

Looks fun. I have no idea on valuations though. Do you really want something like that? Skylarks have considerably less mass apeal than Chevelles. A Cutlass is the same. That is the top dog one. I'd make sure it's a real GS if that's part of the valuation. Not hot on the black and orange but looks ready to go as is (add rings, which is a little scary).
I started pricing out my build and it was around $15k without getting really crazy. Life got in the way. :( I'd still like to do something with it, but I need to get a place to work on stuff first.
This wouldn't be a build. Just a toy until a real build starts. My future Camaro or Nova prices out a good deal above $15k. I'm going to go look at it, but I'm not very serious about it right now.
I like Chevelles, but I also like the "don't see that every day" appeal of a Buick and Olds.
maybe you should dabble in commercial real estate some to get a shop for free david
