should bolt right up... and depending on the old case might not have to mess with driveshafts
just make some shifters and twin stick the 205 while you are at it
you realize 205's suck as far as a low range? It's only 1.92... Althought i think i remember you saying that you only have a single range?
dont fawk with rebuilding it just sell that one and get another one.
i have a np208 ill sell you that will bolt up, needs no rebuild, and has a much lower gearing. or a BW1356... i have no need for them so if you want them let me know and we can talk cost
is the 208 chain driven?
yes both the 208, and 1356 are chain, dont get a gay chain drive, use the one you have or find another 205
they are not as heavy as the 205 so they are easy to put in too... and i have the shifter for the 208
the gearing on the 208 is much better than the 205.
the only way to run a 205 is behind a 203... otherwise it sucks because it is only 1.98/1
http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-...rans/trans.htm
this page is good for comparing x-cases
np205 1.98:1, np208 2.61:1, BW1356 2.72:1
and i have the 208 and 1356 and neither need to be rebuilt
may want to correct that 208 gear ratio
You're making the right decision. Like Frick said, chain drives suck, look what happened to my NV241...
tate you still got the shifter, linkage, and boot for that 1356?
I know plenty of people that have beat the piss out of chain drives including myself and have never had a problem other than leaking from the slip shaft. Unless you hit a rock and frag the aluminum case I'd say your better off with a 208 then a 205. Nevermind me though, i've never wheeled with a chaindriven case. :rolleyes:Quote:

i got it at the junyard here in waco, it was stored inside so I am suprised that there is water in it, ide just pull it apart and replace the seals, maybe bearings.
I will have a shifter, boot, and linkage for a 1356 in a few days...
what size is are the nuts on the yokes?
1 1/8" I think.
No. They are around 1 1/4 or 1 5/16.
spool or mini-spool?
installing a spool requires setting up the gears
mini
lincoln
mini spools for a 9" are so cheap I bet not even Ryan would weld one
You think I'd actually spend the time looking for, comparing prices, and ordering a mini spool so I could wait for it to come in?
I stand corrected
Garrett got one for $0.99 on ebay and put it in before Clayton, then broke his fawking carrier in Clayton...
yes, lesson learned and now i'm putting in a full spool
what no ARB
how much are you willing to pay for tires, if you buy me fellers 36's ill give you my 33's for the 36's
ive got the perfect ones for you. ill let you know when i get the other two off of the wheels.
