So what kind of crawl ratio will you have? Did I miss something or is it going to be high?
Looking good. A good work area makes all of the difference.
box doesn't sound like that bad of an idea, just not the conventional way of doing it, or the light weight way. Think of it as quick and eazy z-channel bracing :gigem:Quote:

What ratio and yokes (they look small...)? No parking brake? Just ah 2 speed?
just given you a hard time - Welcome to the Stak club :gigem:
sweet, when do you expect to have this bad bitty on the trails again?
scott, do those bolts on the covers look new to you?
sweet, that should hold you out until its time to step it up to the lt230 and do it right.
yup, looks like they changed something else on them.
bearing preload? surely not.

The yokes are 1350's, gear ratio is 4.33:1, and no parking brake or vss. Not sure when I'll get it back on the trail, alot of detail work. I have all the parts to finish it, just need the time.

He was having problems with the case leaking, getting hot, and making noise like a bearing or something I believe.
Cheaper then an atlas and not much more then a fully decked out d300.Quote:

See, that is what I was thinking. What if you accidentally tighten one bolt more then the other? Isn't that going to be worse and wear the bearing out even quicker? But then again, will you actually even need to tighten them, specially on a trail rig that won't have a whole bunch of miles on it?
I haven't actually seen it or read any of the paperwork that came with it since it came in. I had it shipped to my dad's office and he sent me a couple pictures. I'll have to look into it next time I go home.
Not much progress since the beginning of the semester. Only worked on it twice now but I'm hoping to get things going over the Christmas break.
A couple of pics.
I found this picture from before I started the build.

chiney!!!
I like the papa smurf axle scheme. :gigem:
did that post get lost in the crash?
so are you going to have tie rod issues or is it just the picture angle?
Guess it got lost in the site crash. Yeah there are some clearance issues. You're running the same RE YJ leaf's right? I was looking at your spring hanger/tie rod clearance at Brandon's the other night. Seemed like your front hangers were low enough to keep the spring arch even avoiding tie rod clearance issues.
yeah, same springs. the rear eye of yours looks a little farther from the frame than mine is. the front hangers look about the same. im really not sure how much clearance i have up front either though. im not planning on putting anything up there.
I thought about arm spacers but don't want problems with shearing.
you will also get some clearance when you get the motor tranny and t case installed, which my be just what you need to make it work, just a thought though, they may not settle out enough
put the tie rod behind the axle. looks like you have plenty of room there.
ah, no drivetrain? i thought they looked awefully arched.
that would be his style, he likes it high in the air
me likey shiney thing
why aren't youputting disc brakes on the rear axle, its prety cheap and mud doesn't get stick in it like the drums would
Didn't want to fool with converting to disk brakes plus I kind of like having a boat anchor out back to keep weight distribution somewhat even.
I pulled a leaf from both front springs to help reduce their stiffness. They seem to flex better just from messing with them but I haven't ruled out going with a set of waggy's yet. Just playing with ideas right now.
