Holy Crap, where did that stuff come from?!?!

I guess you can tell by now that the beast has lost a bit of sheetmetal. After the Katemcy trip I knew that it was just in the way.

I started by pulling the doors and fenders but got sidetracked and started on the sliders. They needed to be done anyways to get the cab up and level from the rusted out front cab mounts. The sliders are made out of 3x3x1/4" square tubing. The brace from the frame is the same material. I trimmed out the bottom of the door frame and welded up the seam there to help stiffen the cab up some. I didn't tie in the rear of it yet because I want to wait till I start on the cage to figure out how I want to do it.

Once I got it all apart and the sliders finished, I started on relocating the battery box as I wanted to be able to get it running if needed. I had to get the propane mixer and regulator out of the way first, and this gave me a chance to get rid of the sheetmetal screws and actually bolt it on. The frame of the box is 2x2x1/8 angle and 1x1x1/8 angle, the 1x1 is up against the firewall. I bent up a piece of 1/2 round bar that I pulled off of a rotting old square bale feeder (the rod was in good shape, just the tubing was bad) to use as a support and tied it into the firewall w/ another piece of 2x2 angle. I will end up w/ expanded metal for the floor of the box. I am still working on how I want to tie them down, I will probably use a small red ratchet strap for now until I find the right hardware.

I got the front tubing to a point I can wheel w/ atleast. It isn't super fancy but it should serve it's purpose.

save some money and go with the 42degree CV and rebuild that one and make a spare rear driveshaft.
